I love skincare. More than makeup. I normally just wear mascara, mostly because I have no idea how to even put foundation on correctly, but I am a skincare fanatic. My cousin recently started working for a company, Beautycounter, and it is all about safer skincare and makeup. I normally just get products from the drug store, or use The Ordinary, but something about Beautycounter really drew me in.

Beautycounter provides safe, clean, and effective products. They are ethically sourced, obsessively tested, environmentally friendly, and always clean. No toxins, no heavy metals, no hormone disruptors or cancer causing chemicals.

Although they may seem pricey, they are actually in line with the cost of products you would see at Sephora and Ulta. In fact, some of our products are currently in stores at Sephora until October.  After reading about the company and their actual clean promise (that they keep) I was hooked. Skincare just doesn’t affect the skin on your face. It can affect your body everywhere. Your skin is your biggest organ and in 26 seconds it soaks into your bloodstream.  It can affect hormones, fertility, periods, and so much more than just your face. Think about it, these products are being absorbed into your skin, and staying there. You want an effective product, but don’t you want one that is also not toxic?

Beautycounter isn’t the only brand in the industry, but they are advocating for change and encouraging other brands to do the same. The Honest brand is also really safe, effective and a little more affordable. What makes Beautycounter a differentiator is that it isn’t just a clean product brand, they are clean morally as well. They use products that are sourced in areas where the workers are paid well, can get an education, and have safe working conditions. Now that is something I can really get behind. They care about people.

And even without all the toxins, sulfates and parabens (I know hard to believe), my face has never been softer or clearer, and I know exactly what I am putting on my face. I don’t have to compromise effectiveness for my health.

I became a consultant to educate people on a topic that is so important but often overlooked. We are a direct to consumer company. We are not a traditional MLM. We are a company that allows people to share and work with people, and to grow a business that supports other women (and men). But if you don’t want to take my word for it, you don’t have to. You are free to shop at our stores or even at Sephora for a limited time. The nice part about working with someone you know, is that you are helping them to get safer products into the hands of more people.

Between all the TikTok beauty people  and YouTube, Ulta, and Sephora, it is time we bring attention to what products we are using, the ingredients they include, and how they are affecting our health in 26 seconds.
