Campus Celebrity: David Seuling

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Molloy chapter.

What was your role prior to becoming Molloy Student Government Executive Board Vice President?

“I have been president of the class of 2017 for both freshmen and sophomore years. Once graduating from high school, I knew that I wanted to maximize the college experience not only for myself, but also for the people around me. In order to do this, I needed to get directly involved with the decision making process at Molloy. That is when I picked up a Student Government election packet and ran for Freshman Class President. My role as the 2017 Class President was not only to organize events and fundraisers each semester, but to also act as the liaison between the student body and faculty. With the help of the rest of Student Government, we were able to carry out large-scale events such as the Color Run, which truly exemplified our thriving campus life.”

What are your goals as MSG E-Board Vice President?

“One of my goals for next year is to continue organizing larger and more marketable events that differentiate Molloy from surrounding colleges. The best way to get students involved is to offer something they actually want to be a part of. Additionally, one of my main goals this year would be to illuminate as much transparency as possible within the student body. The students should be more aware of what we’re doing and how we do it. This may spark more involvement, leading to a more efficient government and a happier student body.”

What made you want to become MSG E-Board Vice President?

“Being on student government is a part of who I am.  I have always had a passion for organizing projects and solving problems. Becoming Vice President allows me to utilize the skills I have gained from earning the rank of Eagle Scout, serving on Student Government the past four semesters, and interning at corporations such as Morgan Stanley, in order to create true value for the student body at Molloy College. This role allows me to challenge customs that are proven to no longer be fit, as opposed to ‘doing things the way they’ve always been done’.”

What would other people say you excell in?

“This is a tough question for me so when I asked around, these are the responses I received. I’ve been told I have great presentation skills, that I am dedicated to providing Molloy students with exceptional resources for academic enhancement, and that I am talented in creating and implementing exciting events for Molloy students.”

Looking back to when you were a freshman would you have imagined being where you are now?

“There is a famous quote a friend once said to me that I really took to heart: ‘A dream without a goal is nothing but a wish.’ I could have never imagined the impact Student Government would have on my life when I decided to run freshman year. I can easily say running for MSG was the best opportunity that has presented itself to me so far at Molloy College. With that said, I believe in setting goals to strive for. With the help of my family, close friends, mentors, and student body, the goals I’ve set have become a reality.”
