Experts say that having a daily skin regimen is the best way to keep our faces healthy and clean. As busy collegiettes™, we don’t always stay as faithful to the beauty bible as we should. We stay up late, eat bad food and sweat at the Rec. With our hectic lives, we rarely give our skin the TLC it deserves. Not only do we not have time for fancy facials and rejuvenating scrubs, but we also don’t have the money! Face it, ladies – spa treatments are not cheap. Well, don’t worry. It’s still possible to freshen up that beautiful face of yours!

These DIY facial masks, scrubs and toners that can really make a difference in the way your face looks and feels. And that’s not even the best part! They can all be made in your dorm room or apartment with only a few simple ingredients. Using these recipes, you will take your skin from drab to fab in no time.

Classic Oatmeal Mask
This mask is probably my all-time favorite because it’s so easy to prepare, and it makes my skin feel silky smooth right after I wash it off.
You need:

  • 1 tbsp. of ground oatmeal
  • 1 tbsp. of plain yogurt
  • A couple drops of honey

Preparation: Mix the oatmeal and yogurt together in a bowl. Then add a few drops of honey. Apply to clean skin and leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse with warm water and voila! Baby soft skin!

Lemon Sugar Scrub
This sweet and sour mask will both exfoliate your skin and minimize the appearance of pores.

You need:

  • 2 tbsp. of sugar (or enough until the mix is thick but not dry)
  • Juice from half of a lemon

Preparation: Mix lemon juice and sugar together. Apply to damp skin in circular motions to spread the mix all over your face. Continue for 2 to 3 minutes and then gently rinse with warm water. The sugar should remove all the dead skin from your face, and the lemon brightens your complexion. Now go ahead and feel your face. We know you want to!

Green Machine
Yes, this is the gooey, green mask that you see at every slumber party in the movies. I know it’s not the prettiest color, and you’ll probably look like Frankenstein’s wife for a little bit. But it will really moisturize your skin deep down and keep it feeling healthy and soft.
You need:

  • ¼ cup of honey
  • half of an avocado

Preparation: Mash the avocado in a bowl, and then mix in the honey. Apply to face and relax for 10 minutes. Look at yourself in the mirror. Laugh at how ridiculous you look. Rinse off the mask with a cool washcloth.

Tea Toner
This is probably the easiest of all the recipes. A tea toner helps restore your skin to its natural pH balance and removes any remaining residue from the other facial treatments.

You need:

  • 1 natural green tea bag or 2 tsp. of tea leaves
  • ½ cup of distilled or spring water

Preparation: Boil water and add in tea bag or tea leaves. After it cools down, apply to face using a cotton ball. Do not rinse! Apply moisturizer afterward, and you’re good to go.

Now that you have the recipes, you’re just a Wal-Mart run away from better-looking, healthier skin. So throw some cucumbers on those eyes and relax!
