9 Ways To Rock a Turtleneck This Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Minnesota chapter.

Often associated with soccer moms and school uniforms, turtlenecks aren’t usually what comes to mind when one thinks about fashion. However, in the last few years these comfy and practical tops have really made a comeback. Though you may imagine yourself looking like the queen of frump in a turtleneck, it may surprise you how simple it can be to rock the look this fall.

1. Pair your turtleneck with a chic button-up skirt. These are all the rage right now and can be found in a variety of colors and fabrics.

2.  Sleeveless sweaters can be a great way to transition into cooler weather outfits – especially when you’re not quite ready to get rid of that summer feeling.

3. Try going for a monochrome look and matching your turtleneck with accessories, pants, or a denim shirt in different shades of the same color. Sometimes the things you don’t think go together, or go together too well, make for the best outfits!

4. Turtlenecks go great with pencil skirts and bold accessories for a chic and interview-appropriate outfit. You’ll really stand out in the office with a look like this one.

5. Rock that statement necklace of yours that’s just collecting dust with a solid color turtleneck. This is one of the easiest ways to look put-together in a flash.

6. Pairing your turtleneck with a denim jumper is an easy way to look cute and ever so effortless.

7. Go bold by mixing a patterned turtleneck with even more patterns and textures. If you’re feeling risky try mixing a striped top with plaids in a similar color scheme for your bottom.

8. Throw on a sheer mockneck for a classic “night on the town” look. Who ever thought that a turtleneck could look so sexy?

9. Extend the life of your summer slip dresses into fall by layering them with a cozy turtleneck underneath.

Even if you think you can’t pull it off, try out one of these tips and give the turtleneck a shot this fall. However you choose to wear it, you’re sure to look stylish and feel oh-so cozy!
