6 Things to Do With Your Friends on Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Minnesota chapter.

Single on Valentine’s Day? Have a long distance significant other and can’t celebrate with each other? Just don’t like celebrating it? That’s what friends are for! There are so many different things you can do with your friends that would be just as fun, if not more, as going out with your SO.

Movie night.

Grab your popcorn, your PJs and your friends and have a movie night. I don’t recommend going to the actual movie theater because odds are it’s going to be packed with couples, but it’s always fun to get a bunch of friends together and watch your fave flicks. My favorite movies to watch with friends are anything Nicholas Sparks or anything Disney!

Game night.

Game nights are fun every day of the year, but this Valentine’s Day, try getting all of your friends together for a night of some competitive fun. Have each person bring a board game and spend your night battling it out in Risk, getting in fights over Monopoly or dying of laughter during Cards Against Humanity.

“Galentine’s Day.”

In the wise words of Leslie Knope, “Galentine’s Day is about celebrating lady friends. It’s only the best day of the year.” There are so many ways to have a Galentine’s Day; if you want to do it like Leslie Knope, you can have it the day before Valentine’s Day so all your friends can attend. Go out to dinner or to someone’s house and do a gift exchange and celebrate your friendships.

Shopping spree.

If you’re sad about not having a SO to celebrate Valentine’s Day with, retail therapy is the way to go. Grab your girlfriends and hit the mall. This Valentine’s Day, treat yourself! Your bank account may not like it, but your closet definitely will.

Go out.

Go to the bars, the club, a concert, anything! Most couples go to dinner or the movies on Valentine’s Day, so you won’t have to worry about running into any lovebirds, and you’ll be surrounded by other people looking for a good time. Who knows, maybe you’ll even find someone to spend next Valentine’s Day with. ;)

Arts and crafts.

Were you and your friends blessed with artistic genes? Even if not, you can have an art night! Watch some Bob Ross videos and paint beautiful scenery or do your own thing instead. I guarantee you’ll have tons of fun being artsy with your friends.

Being single on Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to suck. Get your friends together and have a blast!
