It’s that time of year again–Valentine’s Day! It’s the time where all single people want a relationship and those of us who are in relationships are trying to think of something nice to do for our significant others. Most of us want to do something very nice for the ones we love even, if it costs us an arm and a leg. Howver, it’s not so easy for those of us who are in a new relationship or really don’t have a lot of extra money right now. Well, have no fear! Here’s a list of inexpensive date ideas for your significant other that say “I care about you!”

1. Make Their Favorite Meal

I know some of us can’t cook, but it is definitely worth a try. This shows that you know your significant other so well that you wanted to make something they love! If their favorite meal is from a restaurant, hop online and see if you can find the recipe or a similar one.

2. Have a Movie and Cuddle Night

Again, this is showing your significant other how well you know them by showing up with their favorite movies (even if you don’t like them) and all of their favorite snacks and simply cuddling. It is an awesome way to bond and get close.

3. Go Ice Blocking or Sledding

Ice blocking and sledding are both really awesome, but sledding you need snow for and ice blocking you don’t. All you need are two giant cubes of ice to sit on and ride down the hill. This is great if you are looking for a fun, silly thing to do. Great for lots of laughs! Don’t forget to climb in the hot tub afterwards to warm back up :)

4. Go Ice Skating!

This is super romantic, especially if one of you can’t skate. All you have to do is hold on to your lover and make sure neither one of you trip. Afterwards, you can grab some hot chocolate, wrap yourselves in a blanket and look at the stars.

5. Have a Living Room Camp-Out

Break out the tent, air mattress, and sleeping bags and set up the tent so you can see your TV. If you have a fireplace light, it up and pretend you’re camping! To make it even more fun, make your tent out of a fort with blankets, tell campfire stories over a candle and make microwave s’mores if you don’t have a fireplace!

6. Take a Train to New York City

Spend the day in Times Square! Go see “Today Show,” browse the Disney Store, and meet the Naked Cowboy! Buy small souvenirs for each other to remember the day, then go home and watch any movie that has taken place in New York City. My favorite is “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”!

7. Go On a Free Factory Tour

Around here, we have so many different factories that you may not even know about! There are Tröegs, Yuengling,  Hershey’s Chocolate, Wilbur, Herrs, Nissley Vineyards, and so many more! Go to one of them, get free sample, and decide who had the best beer, chocolate, etc.

8. Go to a Store You Have Never Been To

It can be an outdoor store like Cabela’s or Bass Pro Shop, or it can be an IKEA. A giant store where you can spend a couple hours, grab something to eat and go home. Afterwards, watch a movie similar to what you did (so if you went to Cabela’s watch a movie about deer or hunting.)

These are just some of many easy and cheap date ideas. My significant other and I are going to do a couple combined for one awesome Valentine’s weekend!

Happy Valentine’s Day from Her Campus Millersville to you!
