Do you ever have those mornings where all you want to do is lay in bed and do nothing, but know you should be productive? Unfortunately, I have those days more often than I should considering most of my classes are online. I have a few tips though, that may help you start your day right and have a productive day.Ā

- Make Your BedĀ
-
According to multiple studies, one method to increase productivity throughout the day is by making your bed once you wake up. Simply making your bed each and every morning can have a domino effect on the rest of your day. If you start off your day being productive, you are more likely to stick with that mindset throughout the rest of your day as well.Ā
- Sleep Enough HoursĀ
-
Although this may seem obvious, having the right amount of sleep each night will help make for a productive day once you wake up. It goes without being said that people who do not get a good night sleep the night before will feel tired, drowsy, and lazy during the entire next day.
- Create aĀ ‘to-do’ List
-
Another technique that helps me be more productive is creating a āto-doā list. On this list, I write down absolutely everything I need to do and usually the time period that I want to get it done in. For example, I may add āStudy for Math from 12:30-2:00 pmā on my to-do list. Adding in times helps me stay on task and complete everything I need to finish by a certain time.Ā
- Do Your Work at a DeskĀ
-
Also, working at a table or desk helps with staying productive. As comfortable as it is, doing homework, for example, in bed never helps me stay productive. I usually end up becoming very tired and taking a nap, or get distracted by my phone. Working in bed will confuse your brain, considering your brain associates your bed with sleeping and being comfortable. It can easily become an unhealthy habit to complete work from your bed. While I know it is hard, try to force yourself to find a nice, quiet place to sit up straight and get work done to increase productivity.Ā
While these tips are not nearly all you can do to stay productive throughout your day, it is definitely a good start. Even the slightest changes can help you get things done, whether it be making your bed, getting enough sleep, creating a to-do list, or working from a desk or table.
