The Girl of Many Talents: Breontonee Carter

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mercer chapter.

Major: Women and Gender Studies

Minor: Holistic Childs & Criminal Justice

Age: 20

Year: Junior

Favorite Mercer Memory: Hmm…would have to be winning the dorm step competition my Freshman with my friends!

What are you Involved in: Let’s see…African Student Association (ASA), Co-President of the National Black Law Student Association (NBLSA), unofficially a part of the Organization of Black Students (OBS), and honestly any event or organization I’m asked to participate in.

Describe an Ideal First Date: Oh goodness let’s see…let’s go somewhere fun! Where we can laugh and talk. Like to an amusement park or bowling or laser tag! Seeing your raw personality is always appealing to me.

Hometown: Little old Meriwether County. I’ve moved around so much in this county and various surrounding counties that its hard to choose!

Favorite Book: Hard to choose a favorite when you’ve read everything! But I was pretty sad when the Harry Potter series ended.

Top 3 TV Shows:

1) Pretty Little Liars

2) Vampire Diaries

3) Wizards of Waverly Place

What do you do with your free time: Just relaxing! I am always busy so my bed becomes my best friend in my free time haha

Favorite Characteristic about Yourself: I would have to say that I am a very loving person. I have a really huge heart that sometimes gets in the way, but each strength has its own weaknesses right? And I am very creative! I can’t stick with the same style because I bore easily.

Most romantic thing you have ever done: I am very supportive while in relationships. I created a congratulations box for my guy friend and I put his favorite candy and other knickknacks that meant a lot to us both in the box and mailed it to him. Long distance relationships…boy.

Best childhood movie: Hmmm it would have to be The Little Rascals! I still quote this movie to this day. I also do the little finger wave under the chin!

Top four things to do before you die: Go to Paris, marry, have children, be successful. And in THAT order!

Your favorite holiday: My Birthday!

Future Goals and Ambitions: Hmm I was always told I’m like a Barbie doll because Barbies does EVERYTHING. I want to be a lawyer, a fashion designer, a teacher lol (the mind of a risk taker) …but sometimes you have to be realistic and practical so I do plan on going to law school in the field of family law and a goal of mine is to own a law firm one day.

Most confusing thing guys do: Guys are so weird to me lol and they call me confusing? No. MOST allow their pride to get in the way of what they truly care for and allow it to slip away only because it doesn’t fit into what they feel us society’s version of love. For an example, DO NOT not hold my purse when I need to bend down and tie my shoe! Haha no one is going to question your masculinity and if so then who cares?

Do you have or would you ever get any tattoos: No I don’t think I am. But I think the coolest I have seen would have to be a trail of leopard print down the backside.

One thing you want to share with Mercer: BE YOURSELF! Don’t waste time trying to act like others when you can just be you. That is so much harder to do. Classes are already hard enough!
