Mark Bryan: The Hulk in Heels

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at McMaster chapter.

I came across Mark Bryan’s profile through my FYP and it literally had me on edge of my seat because I had to spread the word to the fellow Gen Z. I mean, don’t we all appreciate a man who is comfortable with showcasing his feminine side? Mark Bryan is a new fashion icon who emerged during the pandemic crisis wearing the classic red sole Louboutins. He is a 60-something American robotics engineer/football coach, currently residing in Germany. He advocates for genderless dressing everyday by showing up to work in the most iconic pair of heels each time.

Clothes and shoes should not dictate a person’s sexual orientation or gender – something he never misses to mention in each of his Instagram posts. As per his Instagram bio, he identifies himself as straight, cis male, lover of Porsche and is happily married to his wife for the past 11 years. He has a 600k plus following and personifies the hashtag – #meninheels.

You must be wondering what inspired him to start wearing heels in his late fifties? He told Harper’s Bazaar that it all started when he came across a pair of four-inch stilettos in a colour he preferred which complemented a pair of jeans he owned. Well, there was no going back after that!

It’s always the celebrities like Harry Styles and Billy Porter who symbolize genderless dressing but never have I ever come across someone doing that in the corporate world, until now. I am irrevocably in love with his chic outfits; those pencil skirts and pumps combos are fire! I bet a thousand bucks not even Meghan Markle could beat that. If you ever want to look like a walking Vogue-ish missile and dominate through your style, then girls, kindly take notes because this man has style! He has a shoe collection any person would kill for. Be it stilettos or platform heels – he rocks them all in his so called “hybrid” attire all the while epitomizing skirt activism.
