Books That Will Warm You Up for the Holidays

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at McMaster chapter.

With midterms finishing and final exams looming, many of us are looking forward to winter break. What is better for de-stressing after our exams than to curl up in our cozy beds with a romcom? Here are the top three books I always come back to during the holidays because they just melt my heart:

One day in december by josie silver

I came upon this book on BookTok (the book community on TikTok) and the summary caught my eye. It is about a woman named Laurie who makes intense eye contact with a man around Christmas and falls in love at first sight – right before her bus drives away. However, after a year of trying to find him, she ends up finding him in unforeseen, and complicated, circumstances.

I saw this book recommended on Reddit numerous times. I decided to try it out and it did not disappoint. Meg is a famous hand-letterer who reads signs people often miss. When she designs wedding invitations for a couple, she knows that they were not meant to be. However, a year later, the former groom, Reid, barged into her life to confront her about the message she unintentionally wove into their invitations.

I also found this book on Reddit because I was looking for a nice romance book to cheer me up. It follows a girl named Jess who moves to London and shares a crumbling home with four strangers. She feels an instant connection with her housemate, Alex, but when she comes back from the winter holidays, she finds him dating her other housemate, Emma.

If you are looking for things to do during the winter break, picking up one of these books might just be the way to go! Happy reading!
