I Get To Be A World Traveler This Year

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MCLA chapter.

Throughout the course of my life, I have been fortunate enough to go on countless vacations with my family. I have been to Disney, lakes in New Hampshire, camping in New Jersey, Key West, and the Bahamas. Though these have been great experiences, this collection of travels has accumulated over the years. This year, I get to travel multiple times over a few months. I know how lucky I am, and I’m unbelievably excited.

For my spring break I will be traveling to Florida to see my grandparents. My plane tickets were a Christmas present from my mom. I don’t get to see my grandparents much since they moved to Florida, so it makes me thrilled to be able to travel down for a visit. Plus, now I can swap knitting stories with my grandma. Though, this will be my first time flying alone, I am not nervous at all . I love to fly, and I’ll be flying out of an airport I’m familiar with.

Fast forward a few months, May to be exact. Mom and I are going to Bermuda. This will

be my first time flying out of the country. I’ll be getting my first passport; a right of passage for people. It makes me feel like a real adult to get a passport. Plus, the drinking age in Bermuda is 18. Mom and I will lie on a sparkling pink-sand beach (yes they have those in Bermuda), soaking up rays and swimming in turquoise water.  I will absolutely be bringing a small jar to save some sand from the beaches in Bermuda. I did it in the Bahamas, and I’ll do it in Bermuda.

Finally in June, I will be traveling to Cape Cod. My amazing boyfriend Alex and I will be going to a cute cottage in Cape Cod for a week in June. This will be the first vacation the two of us will be taking together, and I’m so excited! I’ve never been to Cape Cod before, a crime for a New Englander like me, but I’ve always wanted to go and I’m thrilled to finally go. Our cottage is a quarter of a mile away from the beach, and we hope to take day trips to Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. I’d also love to take a bike ride on a trail nearby. I haven’t ridden my bike in a while, but I do love riding my bike.

This summer is going to be a fantastic one. I am so fond of traveling, and to be able to do it three times within a year is incredible. I know how lucky I am to be able to do this, and I am thankful to be given the opportunities I’ve been given to be able to travel. It’s especially exciting to be able to travel outside of the country. I don’t count the Bahamas, because it was during a cruise. Summer and spring break are going to be amazing, and I can’t wait for them to finally get here so I can experience the awesome thrills that travel offers in life.
