Want Results? 5 Drugstore Products That Actually Work

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at McGill chapter.

We always hear about celebrities, beauty gurus and bloggers raving about expensive beauty products. Although there are many great products out there that are worth paying a lot for, sometimes we can find amazing budget-friendly products at the drugstore. Here are five drugstore products that worked really well for me and that I would recommend others to try:

The first product I would like to mention is Spectro’s Jel Cleanser for Blemish Prone Skin. I struggled with acne for many years, and after trying dozens of products, nothing worked as well as this cleanser. Ever since I started using this, I noticed a huge difference in my skin. I have been using this cleanser for about 6 months now and I rarely break out. It helped my acne so much and furthermore, it didn’t dry out my skin at all. I highly recommend this product if you have acne-prone skin!

If you have any damage to your hair, this hair mask from Garnier will become your new best friend. I lightened my hair over the summer and it resulted in a vast amount of damage. My hair looked super dry and the ends were always breaking off. However, I saw a huge improvement in my hair after just one use of Garnier’s Whole Blends Honey Treasures Repairing Mask. I have been using it two to three times a week for a month now and the overall appearance of my hair has improved so much. It feels softer, looks shinier and the ends have also stopped breaking off as much.

If your hair is the type that gets oily really fast, I recommend trying out L’Oreal Paris Hair Expertise Extraordinary Clay Shampoo and Conditioner. Usually, I have to wash my hair every day, otherwise, it looks oily a day after washing it, as I have fine hair. I know that washing your hair everyday isn’t good, so I decided to try out this shampoo and conditioner. I was surprised that it actually worked! It made my hair soft and the ends looked hydrated; but, best of all I was able to wash my hair every two days without it getting oily.

A drugstore makeup product that I absolutely love is the Lash Princess Mascara by Essence. This mascara is really inexpensive and is one of the best mascaras I’ve ever tried. Not only does it give beautiful, long voluminous lashes and hold curls really well, but it also doesn’t flake and is also so easy to remove. Totally worth it for the price!

The last product I will mention is another one from Essence. I really like their Super Fine Eyeliner Pen. I’ve tried many brands of eyeliners and al different types, such as liquid eyeliner and gel liner, and this is probably my favourite out of all the ones I have tried. It is easy to apply, perfect for a winged eyeliner look and it stays on all day. It is also inexpensive and great for everyday use.

Expensive doesn’t always mean better – you never know what amazing things you can find for a good price!
