Take A Break: 5 Small Things You Can Do to Relax Right Now

This is a stressful time of the semester for all. It might be hard to relax with all the assignments, exams, and deadlines creeping up. You might not even want to take the time to relax because you feel like you must be studying at all times. Here are small things you can do that won't make you feel like you're wasting valuable study time.

1. A warm cup of relaxing tea

A nice cup of tea will instantly make you feel better. My favourite is North African Mint from David's Tea. It smells so delicious. But you don't need to get fancy, any regular tea will do.

2. A refreshing face mask

A face mask will help you feel pampered. My favourite is Mask of Magnaminty from Lush. The mint is so refreshing and it actually works to make your skin healthier!

3. An energizing short walk

You might feel like taking a walk would mean wasting valuable study time. But a short walk will get you feeling good, and thinking again. With the weather warming up, Montreal is about to look so pretty very soon. Take advantage of the sunshine and take a short walk to clear up your mind so you can study better.

4. A calming conversation

One thing we forget to do during busy weeks is talking to people. A positive social interaction can immediately improve your mood. Take the time to talk to your friends, family, or the people sitting next to you in class, even if it's only for 5 minutes. Sometimes just a simple "how are you" is enough to make you feel better.

5. A tasty snack

Preparing food is an activity that can be relaxing and very rewarding. You might feel like you don't have the time to cook when you have so many essays coming up, but prepping something small that you enjoy can help you relax. My favourite is homemade hummus because it's so easy to make, tastes good, and is healthy. All you need is a food processor or a blender!
