OOTD: Printed pants, leather jacket & a top knot

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at McGill chapter.

Today I was taking a short study break to grab a much needed pick-me-up from Liquid Nutrition in the SSMU building when a Shailene Woodley look-alike (pre-Pixie cut days) caught my attention with her geometric printed pants, light leather jacket and adorable top knot. I admired her outfit from afar for a few minutes, before I  interuppted her conversation with her friend approached her to take a pic. As I overenthusiastically expressed my obsession with her outfit and politely asked to take a photograph, she agreed happily without hesitation. And without further ado, I present to you Lucy Higgs, third year art history student in all her fashionable glory.

All eyes on the pants — can we please talk about how these printed pants are the perfect alternative for sweatpants during exam season? There are no more excuses to look sloppy when there are such things as sweatpants for the fashionable. It’s the perfect example of how you don’t have to sacrifice style for comfort — and where fashion proves it can be practical too. Arguably, these pants are probably even more comfortable than sweatpants (and not to mention, infinitely cuter.)

Next, let’s take a moment to appreciate the black leather jacket with gold detailing that really finishes off her entire look — there’s something about the timeless trend of leather that calls for every girl to invest in a trusty black leather jacket to throw over any and every outfit. Leather jackets are my go-to wardrobe essential when I’m feeling like I need to dress down an outfit, or if I need to edge up a really feminine outfit, or quite honestly when I’m lazy, and can easily throw it over a white t-shirt and boyfriend jeans. A black leather jacket is such a versatile piece to have in your closet, and it’s one of those pieces that you know you’ll get a lot of wear out of.

So as exam time is fast approaching, and you’re tempted to slip into a pair of sloppy pair of sweats, opt for a cute pair of comfy harem printed pants instead. That way, even though you’re dreading studying, at least you’ll look cute doing it. And here’s a link to purchase a pair of super cute look-alike (if not the same) harem pants that Lucy is wearing in her outfit.

Happy studying collegiettes!
