Dream job: Working for an NGO with something involving community organizing, sustainability, or human rights. Getting to put my other languages to good use every day at work would be pretty cool, too.
Celebrity girl crush: Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. I had a dream once that we were all best friends, and then I woke up and my life was a tragedy.
Celebrity guy crush: Tom Daly or Bernie Sanders, a major hottie and the only socialist in the US Senate.
Describe yourself with three adjectives: lanky, over-enthusiastic, self-deprecating
What attracts you to someone? Guys who do the right thing. To me, not washing your hair because shampoo is bad for our waterways is sexy.
What do you like best about university life? McGill has really amazing people from all over the place. That makes conversations on social issues and life in general so thought-provoking since everyone has so much perspective.
What three songs would you want on the soundtrack of your life? “Cars that Go Boom” by L’Trimm, “Sk8r boi” by Avril Lavigne, and “Photograph” by Nickelback.
What’s one thing you’d bring with you to a deserted island? Rollerblades
If you could have one superpower, what would it be?: Knowing song lyrics, because whenever I sing along to music it’s like, “His palms spaghetti, knees weak arms spaghetti, there’s nehnehnehnehneneh already” (that’s Lose Yourself by Eminem amirite).
One person that has been a role model in your life? My Uncle Russ is the biggest badass I know. He has this contagious “go get ’em” attitude that makes you run marathons, eat absurd amounts of wasabi, and do the YOLO-est things that you wouldn’t have tried otherwise.
What do you consider to be your best trait?: I’m really good at thrifting clothing. I’ve scored amazing pants, sweaters, and shirts that you can’t find anywhere else (or you can, but it’s 80 bucks more). It’s super sustainable and super cheap; I don’t get why people buy retail anymore.
What’s your idea of a perfect date?: We go to an amusement park, we ride all the roller coasters, then we go to Olive Garden and eat all the breadsticks and fine Italian dining we can.
If you had a free plane ticket to any destination, where would you go?: Patagonia—it’s a geographer’s wet dream. Google it and you’ll understand why.
If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be? Consumerism. We pollute our waterways, poison our air, and violate human rights all for yet another pair of jeans or the newest iPhone. Then we throw it out. That’s stupid.
