It’s been a crazy and busy midterm season. With everyone either hiding in the library franctically cramming for exams, or at home in sweatpants and t-shirts catching up on much-needed sleep, you’d think it would be hard to find well-dressed students strolling around campus. But McGill students are known to be great multi-taskers, and while juggling midterms, papers, labs with extra-curricular activities – not to mention their social calenders – they can also manage to dress to impress, keeping up McGill’s impeccable standards of style.
Ava Armand, a third year Economics student, confesses that she has been hibernating at McLennan in hopes of tackling two midterms and a paper next week, and says can’t start her day until she has consumed her daily dosage of caffeine. However, in spite of her overwhelming academic to-do list, she has managed to put together a very impressive and Blair Waldorf-esque ensemble for her long day at the library. From head to toe, Ava has got the collegiate look down pat. It’s preppy yet effortless: from the braided hair off to one side, the typical Blair Waldorf headband (not visible in the photographs), layering of a black chunky knit over a white button-up with collars peeking through, down to her khaki colored bottoms and Burberry-print rainboots. She’s created an easy-to-wear look that also instantaneously gives off the “so put-together” vibe.
Ava’s style is simple but sophisticated, mixing and matching all the essentials and basics of your wardrobe to create a very timeless ensemble. I’m sure many of you own the pieces that will let you effortlessly recreate this outfit, on any day when you’re feeling a little preppy. All you need is a button-up dress shirt, a chunky sweater or knit, and any bottoms that will complement the color and pattern of your sweater. You can switch up your footwear from the Burberry-print boots that Ava is wearing to white tennis shoes, knee high boots, oxfords or black ankle boots – the options are endless!
Can’t wait to see your spins on this classic collegiate look!
