HC(Her Campus): So how did you two meet?

KC(Kelly Clark): (laughs) We’re roommates.

HC: What brought you guys to Mary Baldwin?

CE(Camryn Eaker): The PEG (Program for the Exceptionally Gifted) program.

HC: How did you hear about PEG?

KC: Well, my mom told me.

CE: I was researching options for an academically accelerated program.

HC: Did you two know each other before applying to MBC?

CE: No (laughs) not before applying. But, we emailed over 200 times the summer before our freshman year.

HC: Was it difficult to transition from just emails to living together, or did you guys grow close pretty quickly?

KC: It was difficult at first because it was different, but after like the first week it was fine.

CE: I also think our experience was better because although we hadn’t met in person we already knew a lot about each other.

HC: What clubs/activities are you two involved in on campus?

KC: I’m the Vice President of the Rotaract Club and Camry is the treasurer. That has been a big part of our Mary Baldwin experience because we started with it the first semester of our freshman year. We’re also both in Habitat for Humanity. I’m the treasurer and Camry is a member, but she does a lot.

CE: We’re also both in RHA (Residence Hall Association), so we’re both Hall Presidents for the dorm and we’re both Working in VACURH and we’re Peer Advisors for the Arts Gateway. I’m also the Junior Poetry Editor for Outrageous Fortune.

Kelly&Camry’s door features signs and reminders about their many on campus and in dorm activities. It also holds a poster that states “Our Room is HATE free.”

HC: What’s your favorite thing to do together, and your favorite things to do apart?

KC: Well, together we really like to plan dorm events!

CE: Yeah, I’d say that takes up a lot of our time! We also enjoy cooking and baking together. Whenever we’ve been sitting down and doing homework for a long time we’ll just go downstairs and we’ll bake while we’re reading or studying.

KC: So yeah that’s together. Separately, I guess I’d say we enjoy having different classes. Like last semester we had every class together and that was kinda crazy so now we have our own separate things that we can talk about together.

HC: Would you consider yourselves to be best friends?

KC: Yeah! I definitely consider Camry to be one of my best friends.

CE: Me too!

HC: You two are well known in your dorm for having a really amazing room, can you tell me about it? Did you guys coordinate or did your styles just mesh well together?

KC: Well, we were roommates last year too so I guess that helps!

CE: Yeah, I remember before we came, we were like setting up floor plans, which is kinda cute. But, we didn’t really coordinate at all. It kind of just happened that we have the same sort of style!

KC: Our comforters are different, though!

CE: (laughs) Yeah, our comforters are different.

HC: If you had to switch styles with each other, would you?

KC: Camry’s is definitely more bubblegum. She wears bows, and I don’t know if I could do that! (laughs) It’s really cute though.

CE: I definitely think I could have Kelly’s style. She’s really classic, but also still super comfortable. I’d definitely be okay with swapping!

KC: Me too, yeah! I could swap.

HC: Do you two have any plans for what you’re going to do after graduation? Do you plan living together?

KC: I don’t think we’ll end up living together, because we just like different things and have different plans.

CE: We do want to open a creperie though, so who knows! It’d be cute to have a nice little side business!
