15 of the Most Underrated Taylor Swift Songs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Marywood chapter.

Because we all know she’s not a one hit wonder….

Taylor Swift has been toping the charts since her first album, the self titled ‘Taylor Swift’, was released in 2006. Her recent hits include Bad Blood, Wildest Dreams, Style and Blank Space. But as every true Swift fan knows, every song on her albums is equally as phenomenal as the chart toppers. (Some are even better!) Here’s HC Marywood’s list of the 15 most underappreciated T-Swift songs.

15. Superman-

“I watched you fly around the world. I hope you don’t chase some other girl. Don’t forget, don’t forget about me.”

14. If This Was a Movie-

“Last night I heard my own heart beating, sounded like footsteps on my stairs. Six months gone and I’m still reaching even though I know, you’re not there.”

13. Change

“You can walk away say, ‘We don’t need this.’ But, there’s something in your eyes says we can beat this.”

12. Holy Ground

“Tonight I’m gonna dance for all that we’ve been through, but I don’t want to dance if I’m not dancing with you.”

11. I’d Lie

“He’ll never fall in love, he swears as he runs his fingers through his hair. I’m laughing cause I hope he’s wrong.”

10. Mary’s Song (Oh My My My)-

“And our daddies used to joke about the two of us growing up and falling in love. And our mamas smiled and rolled their eyes and said, ‘oh my my my.’”

9. Jump Than Fall-

“Everytime you smile, I smile and everytime you shine, I’ll shine for you.”

8. Starlight-

“He said, ‘Look at you, worrying so much about things you can’t change. You’ll spend your whole life singing the blues if you keep thinking that way.’”

7. The Moment I Knew-

“And it was like slow motion, standing there in my party dress in red lipstick with no one to impress.”

6. Long Live-

“I had the time of my life fighting dragons with you.”

5. Last Kiss

“Now I’ll go sit on the floor wearing your clothes. All that I know is I don’t know how to be something you miss. I never thought we’d have our last kiss.”

4. You Are in Love-

“You can hear it in the silence. You can feel it on the way home. You could see it with the lights out. You’re in love, true love.”

3. The Last Time (ft. Gary LIghtbody)

“You find yourself at my door. Just like all those times before, you wear your best apology but I was there to watch you leave.”

2. Haunted

“You and I walk a fragile line. I have known it all this time but I never thought I’d like to see it break.”

1. The Way I Loved You

“Breaking down and coming undone. It’s a roller coaster kind of rush and I never knew I could feel that much but that’s the way I loved you.”

So, thank you T-Swift for giving us not only chart-topping hits but also 5 amazing albums where every song is better than the last. No matter if a song is number 1 on the Hollywood Hot 100 or if it never even makes the list, all of Swift’s music is beautifully written, recorded, and performed. She is truly an inspiration for girl’s everywhere.
