Top 5 Cheesy/Sappy/Adorable Christmas Movies on Netflix

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Marymount chapter.

I have a confession to make: I’m addicted to Christmas movies! For us college girls, winter break is the perfect time to relax and cuddle up with the ultimate bae who will never let us down: Netflix, duh! Although I love to watch Christmas movies throughout the year, I especially love to view these kinds of flicks while I’m immersed in this season and totally feeling the Christmas spirit. The classic films can’t be beat; I get that. However, there’s just something so wonderful about getting lost in a snowy town of a romantic and pretty unrealistic plot of a good ole cheesy Christmas movie. If you’re going partake in watching such a film, I advise you watch one of, or all of these listed below!

1.  A Christmas Kiss

Looking for something sappy, cheesy, and oh-so cute? This movie is for you! Sure, the acting may not be Oscar-worthy, but that doesn’t stop it from leaving you with an optimistic feeling of finding love in unexpected places. It’s not like it’s impossible to fall in love with a random gorgeous man that you kissed on a falling elevator, right?

2.  The Mistletones

If you’re like me and enjoy musical movies, than you will LOVE this fun flick! A Christmas glee club competition that takes place at a mall, with a little romance mixed in of course, is enough for me to give this movie a big thumbs up!

3.  Christmas Cupid

A modern day rendition of the classic tale, A Christmas Carol, Christmas Cupid stars Ashley Benson (Pretty Little Liars) as a ghost who guides a selfish publicist to the man of her dreams. If nothing else, you should at least watch it for Chad Michael Murray because I mean… come on… do I need to give a reason?! ;)

4.  Holiday in Handcuffs

Out of all of these films, this may be the most unrealistic of them all. In a fury of desperation and a whole lot-a crazy, a woman in need of a BF to show off to the fam for the holidays and decides to kidnap a random man to take him as her own. As odd as it sounds, it’s very much worth watching and has a super cute ending!

5.  12 Dates of Christmas

For an ABC Family original movie, this one is pretty darn fantastic in my book and my favorite out of the 5 movies listed! A Christmas Eve date with a man that repeats itself 12 times may seem like a pretty repetitive and uninteresting plot, but this film is totally the opposite! It has a great message intertwined with a great love story and Mark Paul Gosselaar (Saved by the Bell) isn’t hard to look at either!

Although we should be spending as much time with our loved ones as possible this season, there’s nothing wrong with a little movie me-time every once in a while! So kick back and let these films leave you with the Christmas feels!
