Meet Gabriella Skura

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Marymount chapter.

Gabriella Skura is definitely a recognizable face at Marymount University. This bilingual beauty works as a student ambassador, as well at White Swan, a bridal boutique. It’s easy to see how much people love her just by walking around campus. You quickly notice how many people stop her just to say hi and have a quick discussion. Here’s your chance to get to know Gabriella a little better and find out what her most embarrsing moment at Marymount has been!

Name: Gabriella Skura

Year: Senior, Class of 2014

Major: Fashion Merchandising

Minor: Business

Where are you from?  I was born in Poland, but lived in Bolivia for 13 years. Now I live in Centreville, VA.

Why did you choose to attend Marymount?  Marymount had the major I was looking for and they are known for having a very good fashion program. Plus I’m in love with the Washington D.C area.

Favorite class at MU and why? Product Development, because we were able to create and market our own product. It was a very hands-on experience and it helped me prepare for the real world.

What do you want to do after graduation? I want to become a buyer for Bloomingdale’s and I actually have an internship this upcoming spring as a personal shopper at Bloomingdale’s.

Favorite memory at Marymount? Being a model for Portfolio in Motion for 2012 and 2013.

How has being part of Portfolio in Motion impacted your Marymount experience? I was able to meet great people and make long-term friendships. I was also able to gain more knowledge on fashion show production.

Favorite spot on campus when it’s cold and when it’s hot? When it’s hot out I definitely like to lie out on the Ireton Lawn. Since I’m a commuter, when it’s cold out, I like going to my best friend’s apartment because it feels like my second home.

Most embarrassing moment/experience as a commuter at MU? We have a stop sign in front of the guardhouse that I don’t really take seriously. One day as I was driving into campus I passed right by the stop sign, just like I usually do. Joke was on me when I returned to my car later that day and had a ticket waiting for me!

This or That?

  1. Dining hall or Bernie’s?  Dining Hall
  2. Ballston cafe or Lola’s? Lola’s
  3. Ballston or Main Campus? Main campus
  4. Clubs or Bars? Clubs
  5. Clarendon or DC? DC
  6. Tyson’s or Pentagon?  Tyson’s
