It’s Christmastime Y’all! Now What do I Wear?!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Marymount chapter.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! There’ll be Ugg boots for wearing and hot cocoa for sharing and… okay I’ll stop now! But seriously, I wait eleven months for this time of year and finally it’s here! Although I love those crisp autumn months, as noted in my “It’s Fall Y’all!” article, Christmas/winter-time is my absolute favorite time of the year! After the craziness of exam week(s), there’s nothing better than being at home, relaxing, and having your own schedule. However, chances are, you aren’t going to be lounging at home in your fuzzy snowman onesie for a month. Between working, catching up with old friends, visiting extended family, going out with immediate family, going to holiday parties, and so on, you’re going to be one busy gal! With all you’ve got planned, you’re certain to need an outfit for each occasion! Below is your complete guide to all things winter fashion with an assortment of winter break activities in mind, sure to impress and not break the bank!

1)  A Day with the Fam

One of my favorite parts about the holidays is being able to spend a ton of time with my immediate family, and extended family I don’t get to see as often. For my family, when an outing is planned, you can be sure there will be walking, and lots of it, and probably outside where its freeeezing! This outfit, courtesy of Pinterest, is just right for a day out with family. Comfy, warm, definitely cute, and perfect for a day at the zoo, walking downtown, or whatever your clan decides!

Essentials: Wool coat, oversized sweater, leggings, leg warmers, comfortable boots, and a super cute bobble hat!

2.)  Coffee Date with your Hometown BFFs

It’s so nice to be able to come home and catch up with old friends, even if it’s just a quick trip to Starbucks! For an occasion like this, you’re going to want an outfit that you can throw on, that actually looks like you tried. Step 1: Get that maxi skirt out of your bin of summer clothes. Step 2: Tuck in a long sleeved basic tee, or slim-fitting sweater. Step 3: Scarf it up! Step 4: Throw on a floppy hat to give the aura of a sophisticated collegiette! Step 5: Laugh it up with your girlfriends- all while looking confident and chic!

Essentials: Maxi skirt, long-sleeved shirt or sweater, scarf (preferably circle), floppy hat, belt to cinch you in, and some basic booties to wear underneath!

3.)  A Mistle-tastic Outing with Your Man

If you have a BF this holiday season, then you’re for sure going to have to do a ton of cute, Christmas-y couple activities! Whether you’re walking hand in hand in a sea of lights at your local botanical garden, going to see a movie, or just hitting the mall together to do some holiday shopping, you’re going to want to be comfy- all while showing off your personal style! Adding a fur vest, which is super trendy right now, is the perfect addition to jazz up your winter attire!

Essentials: Fur vest, sweater dress, long sleeve shirt under the dress for warmth, riding boots, and leg warmers. I personally would add black tights underneath this ensemble to stay as toasty as possible!

4.)  Christmas Partay!

This ensemble is a perfect last minute outfit to throw together if you didn’t have time to go out and buy a brand new cocktail dress. It’s also great if you aren’t sure if the party you’re attending is more on the formal or casual side. You’ve got comfy on the top, and party at the bottom! This kind of outfit says, “I know what I’m doing when it comes to fashion, but I don’t put in too much effort.” Swipe on a red lip and you’re all set to Jingle Bell Rock the night away!

Essentials: Comfy sweater, sequined mini skirt, tights, booties or heels, and accessories to the max!

A month is not as long as you think, so make sure your days of winter break are spent doing what you love with the ones you love, all while feeling beautiful and fabulous!
