How to Vote in Wisconsin if You are a Marquette Student and Have Yet to Register!

With mid-term elections coming up, it is important to know that voting is an option if you are a student away from your place of permanent residence. Here is how you can register to vote on campus at your designated polling place on Election Day, November 6th, 2018:

 

  • Know whether or not you are registered 
    • You can confirm your registration status at http://myvote.wi.gov/en-US/RegisterToVote 
    • Register to vote at your polling location on election day, the state of Wisconsin allows for registration until election day November 6th!

 

  • Ensure you have the identification forms necessary for registration and voting

Here is a list of what you will need:

  1. A Voter ID, valid forms of identification include:
    1. State of Wisconsin Drivers License
    2. State of Wisconsin ID Card
    3. Veterans Affairs ID
    4. US Passport Book or Card
    5. Tribal ID Card
    6. Certificate of Naturalization
    7. US Uniformed Services Card
    8. Student ID Card and Enrollment Verification
  2. YOU CAN STILL VOTE IF YOU ARE NOT FROM WISCONSIN! Apply for a UNIVERSITY-ISSUED VOTER ID CARD in Union Station in the lower level of the Alumni Memorial Union. 
    1. Present a current valid Marquette ID card to acquire a Marquette Voter ID Card
  3. Provide a Proof of Residence
    1. Students can provide a voter ID fee statement found in CheckMarq under the view bursar account activity link. Confirmation and print of your campus address is required. 
    2. If you need to update the campus address, do so on the main page of the Student Center and select Addresses in the Personal Information section

 

  • How to be an informed voter: 
  • Your polling place
    • Students living in the following dorms will find their polling place in the Marquette University Alumni Memorial Union:
      • Abbottsford Hall
      • Carpenter Tower
      • Cobeen Hall
      • O’Donnell Hall
      • Mashuda Hall
      • Humphrey Hall
      • Schroeder Hall
      • The Commons 
    • If you live in Straz Tower, you vote at Central Library – Centennial Hall, Voting Room: Centennial Hall
    • Students off campus can check their polling location at https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/
