Five Last-Minute Halloween Costumes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Marist chapter.

Halloween is rapidly approaching, and we all know what that means! It is once again time to plan out what you’re going to wear this upcoming “Halloweekend!” Luckily, you don’t need much time (or money) to invest in a costume to still look chic and in the Halloween spirit. Here are five costume ideas that won’t take more than a minute to throw together.

  1. Flapper/1920s Girl. Does Jay Gatsby make you swoon? Well, if you’re a Gatsby enthusiast, or simply a fan of the 1920s, consider dressing up as a “Flapper.” Pair your favorite swing dress with a pair of low heels, and wear a (preferably sequin) headband on the middle of your forehead. Chances are you have all three of these pieces in your wardrobe, so there’s no need to go out and buy anything for this look.
  2. Athlete. Do you like sports? Well, if you do, sport a jersey this Halloween and dress as an athlete! Pair your favorite jersey with a pair of tube socks, converse sneakers, and spandex shorts to complete this chill look. You can add a pair of hoops or a fun hairstyle for an added cute touch.
  3. Ballerina. Is one of your housemates in dance ensemble? If so, ask to borrow her leotard and skirt. Put your hair in a tight bun on the top of your head with exaggerated makeup and red lipstick. Add flats and tights, and you’re all set to go.
  4. M & Ms. If you’re looking for a quick, last minute group costume, grab a group of friends to buy oversized colorful t-shirts from a craft store. All you need is a colorful shirt, some white fleece that you can cut out in the shape of the signature ‘M’ and adhere to a shirt using a hot-glue gun, and some black spandex shorts. Toss on your favorite pair of converse and you’re all set to go!
  5. Tourist. Probably one of the most comfortable costumes of all time, you can always wear a Hawaiian shirt, lei, shorts, and your Birkenstocks. Who said summer has to end?
