College is the perfect time to make friends and you have the opportunity to make a lot of them.  By attending the club fair, no matter what year of school you are in, it is super beneficial to see what types of clubs you may be interested in joining to meet other people who have similar interests as you.

At Manhattan College, the club fair is Sept. 5, 2023.  There will be so many clubs there with student representatives so you will be able to talk to other students about their club and how they interact with it.  Some students will rave about a club and make you interested because you may want to join an organization that you love just as much as they do.

You also have the option to look at clubs you didn’t know you might be interested in, but find out that you may have a secret passion.  Clubs are also a great way to decompress because a lot of clubs don’t have anything to do with academics. You can meet and hang out with other students outside of the classroom.

The club fair is also super low stakes.  You are able to sign your name on an interest form, but it is acceptable if you later say that you are no longer interested in the club.  Your name is not set in stone for being a part of the club.  You are there to show interest in different organizations that you may be able to find your own community away from home.

At the club fair, you can expect a row of tables and a lot of people in one room representing their clubs or other students trying to find a club to be a part of.  There are different organizations at every table with different merchandise, posters, fundraising events, and information for you.  It can be very scary, but it is okay to feel that way.  Everyone there is trying to help you find the perfect place, or places, for you.

Joining clubs is great because it gives you a way to find a home away from home.  Even if you don’t find a club you’re interested in or a club that fits what you are looking for, it is possible to make a club of your own.  Get involved at Manhattan College, meet more friends, and find your place!

Manhattan '24

Hi I'm Emily! I am in my Senior Year at Manhattan College, graduating in Spring 2024. I am studying Childhood Special Education with an upward extension to middle school with a double major in English. My goal in life is to teach elementary school and later on, teach middle school. Although I don't have a position in my Her Campus chapter, I am still an active writer for Her Campus! I write about all different topics for Her Campus, anything that interests me or that I believe other girls will find useful and informational. I am a team captain on the Manhattan College cheerleading team, so I may write about that sometimes. I also love sorority rush season so I have written about my sorority a few times. I believe that Her Campus is an amazing source for women to put their work out there and influence other girls. I love being a part of this organization and being able to write about whatever I love. This is the best outlet for me to learn more about my writing style, experiment with different topics that I would not be allowed to write about in a class, and grow as a writer.
