A Letter to the Girls Who Have My Freshman Dorm

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Manhattan chapter.

To the girls who will be living in my freshman dorm:

You are so lucky. I’m not sure if you chose that room on purpose or it just so happened to get assigned to you. Regardless, it is going to treat you so well. Maybe I’m biased, but Jasper Hall is one of the best. Of course, it’s all relative, as long as you make the best of it. I’d like to think I did. Here are my tips to you, so you can make the most of a room that will be held near and dear to my heart.

Rearrange your room, a lot.

Have pizza/sushi/Toaster Strudel/food parties in there often.

Decorate for Halloween/Christmas/every holiday!

Leave your door open so friends can stop in.

Enjoy the glow-in-the-dark ceiling stars (I left those there).

Don’t make tea if the other person is blowdrying her hair – or there will be a power outage (I had to go to the RA at least 50 times).

Be the best of friends with your roommate and cherish the year you’ll get to spend together.
