Something that was important to me when moving into college was making my dorm feel homey. I started shopping months in advance for cute stuff that would make my dorm feel more liveable and less like somewhere where I am being forced to live. I created a list of some products I used to make my dorm feel like home.

  1. Rugs

Rugs make living in a dorm room way cozier than just stepping on the cold tile floor. It also just makes your living space comfier. I found that Amazon and Target have really nice carpets that are under $20.

  1. Pictures

Moving away from your friends and family can be really hard because you aren’t going to see them every day. Printing out photos at your local drugstore is only a couple of cents. I stuck mine next to my bed with some double-sided tape. It makes me happy waking up every morning seeing the people I love the most.

  1. Lights

If you’re like me and your room has the view of a ditch, you need lights to make the room less dark and depressing. I got all my fairy lights and lamps from Target. They make the biggest difference on a cloudy day.

  1. Tapestry

I love my tapestry. It makes me feel like my dorm is my room. I got my tapestry on Amazon for around $16. All my friends love it and it makes the room cozier.

  1. Plants

Plants really brighten up the mood in a room. I love succulents because they are cheap and only need to be watered once every two weeks. They are cute and give the room character.

I hope that these tips were helpful to make your room feel more like a home and less like a dorm!
