It’s a new start, it’s a new time. Walking onto this campus for the first time I automatically knew it was the perfect place for me to start my career. But walking onto the campus was one of the hardest things that I ever had to do. Coming from a small community in California, I knew almost everyone or well at least seen the same faces whenever I went out and about. Coming to New York, you see new faces everyday, new headlines, and don’t forget the constant change of weather. I miss my family everyday. Everything I see or do reminds me of them. Whether it’s sitting down late at night with nothing to do, just thinking about them or walking down the soccer field and hearing my dad’s favorite song by R. Kelly. But at the end of the day, I can’t say I regret my decisions because I am eternally blessed that I get this opportunity to explore my horizon. So far being here for a year and a half, my experience has been amazing. I have met amazing people and seen things I would have never imagined. My expedition has just started and I am ready to conquer. I want you guys to always shoot for the stars – to never let fear stop you. I can’t wait to see what 2016 holds for me. I wanted to give you guys five tips from my favorite authors to continue to ensure that this year will be a good year. They always helps me when I’m feeling stressed so I know they will help you:

Tip 1: “The best way to make room for both life and a career is to make choices deliberately – to set limits and stick to them.” (Sheryl Sandberg, Lean In)

Tip 2: “Your future results are dependent on your consistency level of passion and sacrifices you make today.” (Adam Ali)

Tip 3:”There is no secret to success, but making the best choices and doing the best you can with what you have.” (Sherly Sandberg, Lean In)

Tip 4: “When you believe in yourself, others will believe in you.” (Sophia, Girl Boss)

Tip 5: “The more you experiment, take risks, and make mistakes, the better you’ll know the world, and the more focused you’ll be.” (Sophia, Girl Boss)

I hope you had an amazing 2016 so far, and I wish you the best in all your future goals.
