It’s officially spooky season, you’ve already listened to Thriller and found a Halloween playlist to listen to in the car, but you haven’t had time between class, work, and life to figure out what movies and tv series to watch this weekend! I’ve grown up with some of these movies and shows, and I’m hoping you have too! Here are my all time favorite movies and shows to watch before Halloween to get you in the mood!

1. Disney’s Hocus Pocus

Here is an all time classic movie, made in 1993 about a group of evil witches who are released by a Max and his sister Dani when they explore an abandoned house. Without spoiling too much of the classic the kids try to steal the witches’ spell book to stop them from taking over and becoming immortal.

2. Disney’s Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas

Another movie made by Disney in 1993 with a very confusing title, that is in fact a Halloween and Christmas movie all in one. In this cartoon you meet Jack Skeleton the pumpkin king who is bored of being king of Halloween. He is tired of scaring people, so he looks into being someone else. Jack finds himself in a town with bright lights, warmth,  delicious food, and joy. He wants to bring all these aspects to his home, but learns that it might not be as easy as he thinks.

3. Disney’s Halloweentown

This movie released in 1998 is about a little girl Marine who has always felt that she doesn’t belong until one day when she follows her grandma home to a crazy town where everyone is different and she finally belongs. She then finds out she is from a family of witches, and her grandma lives in a town where supernatural beings thrive. If you haven’t watched this classic I highly suggest you do regardless of the cheesy costumes and plot line. And if you love it, just as much as I do don’t forget to check out the squeal where Halloweentown citizens come to the real world and have a wild time.

4. Ghostbusters

Originally released in 1984 has had a remake in last few years, regardless of the remake there is nothing like the original where three guys hunt ghosts for a living. In the remake the roles are switched as to fit the era of society with giving women a dominant role so instead of three guys hunting ghosts we have three women who are ready to kick some ghost ass.

5. IT

Here’s a movie to watch on date night! Scared of clowns? Then this movie is not for you! In this movie IT is a scary clown who takes children and eats them! Do I dare say more?

6. Bitten

Do you believe in werewolves? Follow Elena on a journey to save her family and her secret life of being human in this thriller. Elena is the only female werewolf in a society of men. Will she give in to her human lifestyle and follow her dreams of becoming a famous photographer or will she give into the wolf?

7. Scream

This movie fits a whole lot of categories, it’s funny, clever and scary, as a masked maniac stalks and chases high school students in their hometown. A classic that has been remade in the last few years. Will you scream when you watch it?

8. Stranger Things

With three seasons of this show and Halloween Horror Nights being themed off this show I can safely say it is a must see! It’s a spooky version of Nancy Drew but more modern day. A group of friends witness supernatural forces in their town and search answers.

9. Twitches

Another all time favorite by Disney is about twins born on Halloween day, are separated for 21 years for their own safety. These two sisters are reunited and have to use their powers to save a kingdom they knew nothing about. This is another classic with a squeal!

10. Harry Potter

One of the best book and movie series that is still trending years after its debut. There is something dangerous and exciting in every movie that keeps you riveted. If you haven’t watched one of the Harry Potter movies yet I highly recommend you try something new, especially towards the end of the series where the plot line gets darker it can be quite a spooky watch.

I was born to write epic stories and live an interesting life. I am 19 and writing is my passion. I am type 1 diabetic and have been for 17 years. I have lived in South Florida my whole life and would love to be a famous author one day. Reading a steamy romance novel is my favorite pastime. I love romance, dogs, my friends and family, and my darling boyfriend. I’m always up for a good chat with friends and coffee! My sweet tooth is my entire mouth and I live every day like its my last.
