Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. This is the ending of summer and the start of a new school year. Since I have started college in Florida, I never really got that sense of fall like I did in New York. In New York you can feel an immediate change in the weather once it turns September/ October. It starts to become cooler, the leaves start to change, and the style becomes different.

The weather during fall in New York is my ideal weather. It is not too cold where you need a winter jacket but it’s not too hot where you need to wear shorts. Here in Florida, I feel like the weather does not change when the seasons do. Fall in Florida I have noticed is more rain, one week of cool air, and then back to summer weather. This is what I have noticed this year so far for fall in Florida. When I went back to New York, a few weekends ago as soon as I got off the plane I felt that cool breeze. It was so nice to walk outside and feel that crisp cold air and not be sweating.

In New York when fall starts the atmosphere and ambience is so different. In the summer it is more carefree, very bright, and sunny. When it turns to fall you immediately see the leaves of the trees change. They change into these beautiful fall colors like yellow, orange, and red. People start to put out fall decorations and get ready for Halloween and go all out. Some people even start to use their fireplace if it gets really chilly. There is just such a change in the air and it is one of the best feelings for me.

The style in New York is completely different in the fall compared to the other seasons. In fall for me that’s when I start wearing my leggings, jeans, and sweatpants and say goodbye to the shorts. I will slowly start to wear long sleeves but keep my short sleeve shirts, but I always have a jacket with me. It is so nice to wear these comfy cozy clothes and have the environment match the vibe.

These are just my thoughts on how fall in New York feels to me. Again, it is very different from Florida. Florida has its perks like still getting tan and being able to use the beach and then pool. But fall isn’t really much of a thing here and definitely does not compare to how it feels back in New York.
