When it comes to Christmas there is very much the stereotypical Christmas setting that people have. We see this often in stores that sell Christmas decor, the snowman’s, candy canes, all the green and red colored ornaments, the Christmas lights. The magical time of the year. For me, when I think of Christmas I always think of sitting by the fire drinking hot chocolate or cozied up in blankets with family will it snows outside. To be honest this is what I saw all the time in Christmas movies quite honestly what the stores portrayed Christmas to be. Therefore matter of fact it is not a Winter wonderland type of Christmas everywhere.

Being from South Africa, Christmas is during the scorching hot summer. The feeling of Christmas day is an interesting one no such thing as cozied up in blankets and hot chocolate but rather being in summer attire at the pool! The doors are wide open and it’s about 32°C outside my favorite part has to be hearing the Christmas beetles I’m not sure if you get those in the US? From around the beginning of November or October the Christmas beetles come out and on Christmas day they are going full force. It is all just a different sensation and five to your stereotypical white Christmas.

It has been on my bucket list to experience a Christmas weird it’s snowing outside and it is super cold and you get to stay inside. People who have experienced winter Christmases all their life want a summer Christmas like I have always had. I would say people have to experience both to find out what they truly like. To be honest I am not a person who enjoys the cold so much so I enjoy my Christmas as being in the summer where I can go to the river with my family and have a picnic and be outside all day. I think once I’ve experienced a winter Christmas with snow my mind might be set on the summer Christmases.

But it is safe to say that if your Christmas is spent with people you love and you are having fun, the weather does not necessarily matter, especially when you know there’s going to be good food!
