One of the hardest parts of this pandemic is being far away from friends and family. It is so difficult to keep your distance from the people you love the most, especially when the world feels as if it is falling apart around us. In a time when everything is so dreary and glim, we need to stay connected in any way we can. This means that when we can see the ones we love, we need to stay safe and put each others’ health first.
When you are trying to protect yourself and others, it can become difficult to find safe activities to do with your friends and family. That’s why I’ve put together a list of five different safe ways to hang out with your friends or family. Each of these activities is unique, exciting, and most importantly safe.
Only One Zoom Away
One thing I’ve done during the pandemic is kept in touch with my friends via Zoom. Every week we would all log into Zoom to talk, reconnect, and relax. We even held a Zoom birthday party for one of my friends! Zooming with my friends was much needed and we had a great time catching up with each other.
Picnic From Apart
Another safe way to hang out with your friends is to have a picnic. To stay safe you can all meet in a public park, layout blankets six feet apart, and wear masks when you aren’t eating. This is a great way to stay invested in your relationships and have a break from everything going on.
Sunsets & Safe Distance
If you love sunsets or sunrises, this activity is perfect for you. All you have to do is plan a day and time to meet your friends on top of a parking garage. When you meet up, you can stay in your cars or layout blankets (six feet apart) to watch the sunset. I love this idea because watching the sunset is such a peaceful and refreshing thing to do.
Karaoke in Your Car
Are you looking for a laugh? If so, this idea will make you smile for days and laugh for hours. Just recently, they started making microphones that can connect to the BlueTooth in your car. Once you and your friends buy a microphone, you can all meet up somewhere, park in your separate cars, and sing your heart out. This idea is extremely fun and will definitely serve as the perfect pick me up.
At-Home Movie Theater
If you’re anything like me, you’re probably really missing the movie theaters right about now. Well, grab your popcorn because we’re going to the movies! To do this activity you need a sheet, projector, cars, snacks, and of course a movie. Set up the sheet on the side of someone’s house, get the projector running, and find your favorite movie. Now while all of your friends sit in their cars, you can all watch the movie together!
Staying connected with the people you love is really important, especially in these difficult times. I hope you try out these fun ways to safely hang out! Don’t forget to stay six feet apart and wear a mask!
