If you’re anything like me, you love animation from “Secret Life of Pets” to old classics like “Lion King.” Recently, I’ve joined the old faithful form of animation, otherwise known as, Anime. This Japanese style displays dynamic worlds full of expressive and complex ideas from everyday life to demon-slaying heroes. It’s a world of its own, and I am here to tell you where you may want to start!

1.Hunter X Hunter- A tale about Gon Freezes, a young boy, searching for his father, a professional hunter himself. This newfound information encourages him to become just like dad. He meets some of the best hunters on his adventure to become a Hunter and becomes one (oops spoiler alert). Several episodes are full of competitive and realistic depictions and cross between fantastic realism and exploratory adventures to be the best hunter ever. As he teams up with assassin Killua, we see the dynamic duo become upstanding professionals.

2.Seven Deadly Sins- Based on the actual seven deadly sins: greed, lust, envy, sloth, wrath, and gluttony. The show surrounds Meliodas, who bears the sin of wrath. Each member were original knights of Liones, but became the villains after being cast out and blamed for an assassination! This show is very intriguing as the characters each bear tattoos that symbolize their sins. From the snake that represents envy for Diane to the fox on Ban for greed, these stamps, similar to The Scarlet Letter, tell us how unique each character is and the sin they hold. Seven Deadly Sins have several mystical races; fairies, sorcerers, and even immortals, such as angels and demons. The worse of all is the demon race, which has plotted to take over and relinquish not only the Seven Deadly Sins but even the other races or at most control the world. Through all the action, we do see several romances breakout as Meliodas falls for Elizabeth, an angel (spoiler again!), and even “nefarious” Ban has a sweet sport for a highly respected fairy.

There are various good animes; Full Metal, Inuyasha, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Tokyo Soul, etc…. so dive right into these action-packed worlds waiting to be discovered!
