To be honest, summer is not my favorite time of the year for fashion. During the summer, I feel like I always wear the same thing: a pair of shorts, a graphic tee, and a pair of sneakers (and there is nothing wrong with that!).

However, this summer season, I’ve been trying to step up my fashion game and explore new looks thanks to inspiration from Instagram, Pinterest, and some of my favorite YouTubers (@bestdressed, I love you).

So, without further ado, I hope you enjoy this fashion inspiration and I encourage you to try out some of these looks this summer!

Little dresses

Cute little floral and wrap dresses have been dominating my Instagram feed this season and for good reason! These types of dresses are so versatile and fun! They can be casual, being dressed down with your favorite pair of sneakers (I love going for a pair of white sneakers), or fancier, being glamoured up with some dainty jewelry and other cute accessories.

Espadrilles

My newest shoe obsession? Espadrilles.

With their chunky straw platform, these shoes scream summer and are perfect to pair with almost any summer outfit.

My favorite look? Pair these with a long, flowy sundress!

Espadrilles come in sandal form, like pictured above (wanna cop them? Find them here), but also in slip-on form, too! Check out these ones from Urban Outfitters!

Gingham

There’s something about that picnic blanket look that just screams summer!

Jokes aside, I really do love gingham. Gingham has also been really trending lately, especially now during summertime. From gingham skirts to gingham pants to gingham dresses, I personally can’t get enough of this chick-yet-retro look for the season!

Denim

Okay, so this may be slightly obvious, but a cute pair of cut-off denim shorts are truly perfect for any summer day. My favorite place to buy denim is Levi’s, but a ton of other brands have amazing denim, too!

Bored of basic old denim? Try buying denim that has embroidered details on it, or denim shorts that are a little longer than the cut you would normally go for!

Belts

Never underestimate the power of a cute belt.

Belts truly can spice up any outfit. Lately, more chunky belts have been in style. A couple of trendy belts I’ve really been noticing and enjoying are clear studded belts and Western-style belts, like the one pictured above.

Layering

For those cooler summer days, try layering!

Personally, I love the look of a plain white or black tee layered underneath a patterned tank top, but play around with it and have fun combining different textures and patterns!

Or, try dressing down a cute summer dress or jumpsuit by layering a tee underneath!

Dainty jewelry

I love dainty jewelry all year round, but I thought I needed to include it here to stress the importance of accessorizing! Just like a cute belt, pretty and dainty jewelry can add interest to any outfit. Gold jewelry has been really trendy lately, but silver and rose gold work, too, depending on your skin type and personal preference.

If you want to buy some more jewelry and not break the bank, try Brandy Melville for dainty bracelets, earrings, necklaces, and rings.

I also love Pura Vida and their jewelry collection; not only does Pura Vida sell beautiful jewelry in different finishes and styles, but the company is also incredibly dedicated to giving back to charity.

Some other places I love to buy minimalist and dainty jewelry include Lou & Grey and Madewell

Graphic tees

I’ll say it, I’m a sucker for graphic tees. Graphic tees are comfortable, effortless, and super fun (don’t @ me!).

My favorite places to look for graphic tees are Brandy Melville, Lucky Brand (strangely, their men’s graphic tees are usually way better than their women’s graphic tees…just saying), and Urban Outfitters, but a variety of other clothing stores sell them, too! They are a staple, and definitely for summer!

To take your graphic tee to the next level, try tucking it into a pair of high-waisted shorts or jeans, tying it in a knot, or, if it is more oversized, wearing it loose like a dress! The possibilities are e n d l e s s !
