Meet Cheyenne Snider. Born and bred in Long Island, Snider, 19, is an aspiring fashion designer. Although Long Island may be an hour away from the city, the urban grittiness and punk rock sensibilities of NYC has definitely rubbed off on her sense of style. Known for her 1980s punk meets UNIF aesthetic, Snider stands out in a pond of skinny jeans and sweatshirts.
On her neck, Snider has two chokers. One of them was from the “bottom of a friend’s hat” and another was a string, which was intended to replicate the Teddy Boy look. Snider’s leather jacket is from a store “outside Buffalo Exchange” in Pomona, where she got it for $15. The DIY tube top is a reworked Bernie Sanders shirt that once belonged to her older brother. Snider said, “[He] tried to cut the sleeves off. If I want to make a new one, I want to get a new t-shirt that’s not s***illy cut.” According to Snider, her brother gave it to her since he couldn’t use it. Below her waist, a Camel fanny pack is a vintage piece that she found online. Her black boyfriend-fit jeans are vintage and sneakers are UNIF’s ‘90s-inspired Normas, which take us back to second grade when everyone wore a fresh pair of white Nikes.
Although she is a business major and a film minor, Snider will be transferring to the Fashion Institute of Technology in order to pursue fashion.
