Spotted: Stars at LMU

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at LMU chapter.

Thanks to organizations like Mane Entertainment, ASLMU, and various clubs on campus, there have been many different celebrities that have graced LMU with their presence. Recently, we were fortunate enough to have two major Internet stars, Josh Peck and Jenna Mourey, come to do Q&A sessions for students. Here’s a look at the other celebs that have made LMU life unique.

1.     Josh Peck

Josh Peck is known from his role as Oprah-loving Josh Nichols in Nickelodeon’s Drake & Josh.  Since the show stopped airing in 2007, Peck has starred in Ice Age, The Mindy Project, and The Big Bang Theory.  When he’s not acting, he makes hilarious Vines and hangs out around L.A.

2.     Jenna Mourey

Jenna Mourey is known by her YouTube name, Jenna Marbles.  Jenna makes hilarious videos every week for her channel that started in 2010 with “How To Trick People Into Thinking You’re Good Looking.”  She loves making these videos with her dogs, Mr. Marbles and Kermit, and has recently introduced dog toys that look like them.

3.     Timeflies

Thanks to ASLMU and Timeflies, this year’s Fallapalooza was a success with amazing music and a fun atmosphere. Attendees had a great time dancing the day away! Timeflies has gained a lot of popularity after their song “All the Way” became the anthem for MLB postseason videos.

4.     The Girls of Girl Code

Last year LMU was lucky enough to have comedic powerhouses Jessimae Peluso and Carly Aquilino do standup in The Living Room.  Both women appear on MTV’s Girl Code, and currently tour with the cast and the cast of Guy Code doing stand up around the country.

5.     Brandon and Leah

The Living Room was also the venue for musical duo Brandon and Leah Jenner, who came and melted hearts with their soulful sound.  They currently appear on episodes of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, as Brandon’s dad is Bruce Jenner.  Their new EP “Together” recently dropped on iTunes.

6.     Rainn Wilson

Rainn Wilson was last year’s “Comedy for a Cause” headliner.  Most people recognize him as the hilarious character Dwight Schrute on The Office; Wilson currently works on SoulPancake, a website of blogs and videos that encourage art, entertainment, and creativity.

7.     The Cab

Two members of the band “The Cab” were met with screams from LMU’s female population last year in The Living Room.  Alexander de Leon is the lead singer of the band, and he came with his guitarist to put on a show full of improv, old hits, covers, and some new material.  The band dropped their latest album “Lock Me Up” in April, and de Leon has launched his own clothing line, 42799, Be the Black Sheep.  He is good friends with many other musicians like Brian Dales of “The Summer Set” and PLL’s Lucy Hale.

8.     Patti Stranger

Patti Stranger is best know for her hit Bravo show, Millionaire Matchmaker where she finds love for struggling rich and single people.  She is the founder and CEO of Millionaire’s Club International Inc., which accomplishes the same off camera.

9.     Smallpools

Spring Fest 2014 was enhanced by the amazing music that Smallpools played.  They got the crowd moving, which is why they were the perfect choice to play at Coachella this past year.  Smallpools’ well-known song “Dreaming” has gotten a lot of air time recently, so expect more hit music in the future.

10. Jimmy Tatro

YouTube comedian Jimmy Tatro gave a hilarious standup and Q & A this past September.  Jimmy appears on his channel LifeAccordingToJimmy which has 2.27 million subscribers, and was recently in 22 Jump Street with Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill.  Tatro currently tours with his standup routine, as well as producing and writing his own sketches.
