I have been in school for about a month now, so I am finally starting to get the hang of things! I am not going to lie, my first two weeks were a little rough, I was homesick, stressed, and overwhelmed from trying to assimilate to a different environment and culture. Fortunately, things have gotten a lot easier, I have met so many wonderful people and have found ways to fill up the excessive free time I was finding myself having. As things get better socially, they are also getting better academically: I no longer get lost when going to my classes, I finally got the hang of “college” assignments and what my professors expect, and I am even getting involved outside of the classroom.

Since I am finally starting to get the hang of things, I thought it would be the perfect time to go over some of my back to school essentials that help me stay organized throughout the year! These are all items that I have been using since high school and they honestly help me feel so much more prepared and organized.

  • Agenda: I am going to start off with my favorite back to school item: My Planner! I am the type of person who needs to write out everything, or else I will just forget. About 2 years ago I became obsessed with Erin Condren. It is a little bit on the pricier side, I believe I payed about $70 for mine. However, if you use it religiously as I do, you will 100% get your money’s worth.

  • Headphones: One of the most awkward things for me when I began school was the long walk alone to my classes. Apples Airpods are great, they are wireless and so you don’t have to worry about cords getting tangled and they just look cool!

  • Hair Ties: These for me are a must, I hate having my hair down when i’m trying to work, it’s just a distraction for me. I got my first Teletie for free and now I am obsessed. I have really thick hair and they work great for me.

  • Colorful Pens: Muji Gel Pens are an absolute must! One of my friends from high school introduced them to me sophomore year and I haven’t been able to use other pens since. I like colorful pens because it makes it easy to colorcoat things and just makes my notes more pleasing to read.

  • Water bottle: I read an article once that we are supposed to drink half of our body weight in oz. each day. How true this is? I don’t quite know, but i’ve been trying to do it ever since. I am always drinking water and my hydro keeps it cold all day which is perfect, it also prevents me from using too much plastic.

  • Backpack: This one is a must, everyone needs some sort of bag to carry their items from class to class. I love my lululemon backpack, it is a little pricey, but it is super versatile. I use it for class but I can also use it  at disneyland, on a hike and even as a gym bag.

  • Notebooks: Muji also has great notebooks! These are my favorite because they are so thin and super easy to store in a folder.
