So, if you didn’t already know, the Oscars are not actually awarded on the basis of quality. Rather, the Oscars are highly influenced by money and gifts. It’s true, studios and actors are entirely allowed to give gifts and money (aka soft bribes) to the members of the Academy. Although these gifts are not certain to determine who wins the awards, there is no doubt regarding their potential influence. This doesn’t even take into consideration all of the problems with the Academy’s overt racism and sexism. Overall, the Oscars get a “no” from me.

Even though I personally do not endorse watching the Oscars, there are a few particular Oscars that I stan wholeheartedly.

My first Oscar is… Oscar Isaac! <3

Oscar Isaac is one of my favorite actors and definitely my number one celebrity crush. This weekend, I recommend you watch him in Star Wars: The Last Jedi (available on Nexflix) and/or Suburbicon (on Hulu) to satisfy all your Oscar needs.

Another Oscar I recommend watching is none other than Oscar the Grouch.

Oscar the Grouch may be grumpy, but at least he doesn’t take bribes! If you’re in the mood for Sesame Street, it is available on Hulu.

The final Oscar goes to… Oscar Wilde!

Spend a couple hours reading The Picture of Dorian Gray or maybe check out some of his poems or short stories!
