How to Make Everyday Feel like Hot Girl Summer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at LMU chapter.

We all have been there when the bed feels comfortable in the morning, or you have no energy to get ready, or you simply feel burnt out from all the school work. And sometimes playing your usual playlist doesn’t do it for you. Well, I have a solution for you! Here are five songs that would remind you how hot and inspiring you are and set a powerful tone for the day ahead of you. Play them on your way to class or before a girls night out. Trust me, they always do the trick!

“Pretty Girl” – Cheat Codes X CADE Remix by Maggie Lindemann

Like Maggie Lindeman says “I am not just a pretty girl.” It is easy to get caught up in comparing yourself to other people on social media and in real life. Besides being an absolute banger, this song always reminds me to be myself and be courageous enough to show the “real me” to the world against all the social stigmas.

“Dime” by Rachel Crow

This song is a definite Hot Girl Summer anthem. You feel empowered to move on from your ex-partner because you know for a fact that they lost a dime. It gives you a necessary push to re-find your inner self-worth and redefine who you really are and how you deserve to be treated.

“Sue Me” by Sabrina Carpenter

There is something about Sabrina Carpenter’s voice that makes us feel like “that girl.” Innate confidence is something that radiates from this talented singer. However, you cannot play this song before watching the music video. It has major Legally Blonde vibes, which makes this song the perfect recipe for a successful day of boss babe energy.

“Wasabi” by Little Mix

This powerful, British female pop band is anything and everything you need to have a confidence booster. Truly, any song by Little Mix is a must have for your dance party. “Wasabi” is a good reminder to all women that rumors are one of the most sincere forms of flattery. People are only going to be talking behind your back if they are insecure about themselves. If someone is judging you for “getting out of the box,” they are too afraid to risk their own comfort. Keep your chin up and move along girl!

“Confident” by Demi Lovato

As Demi once said “What’s wrong with being confident!” As women in a patriarchal society, we are constantly told to not feel too confident or overpowering in comparison to men. No matter how self-sufficient I may consider myself to be, once in a while I can still feel like I am not supposed to feel this secure in myself or I have to be more humble about my achievements because there is someone out there with “bigger and better things.” It makes me angry that we are being made to feel this way. This song gives me the perfect push to stop caring about what other people might think of me and be as confident as I want to be!
