Skin First, Makeup Second. If your skin is anything like mine (oily with constant breakouts) you know how important it is to take skin care seriously. I have tried everything from Target brand products to Proactive. All of the products had either done nothing for my skin or dried my skin completely. Once I discovered Glossier, that all changed.

It was May 18th and I was scrolling through my instagram feed when a girl I followed posted a picture in what I now know as the “Glossier Canyon.” Now for all of you who have seen the canyon, you know it is nearly impossible to miss the opportunity to post a picture there. I knew right away that a picture there was an absolute must for my instagram feed, so I planned a trip to Melrose the next weekend.

Prior to seeing the Glossier Canyon, I had never heard of the brand before. I wasn’t too sure what to expect or if I would even buy any of the products. Since I was in Melrose, I went to Alfred’s Coffee (duh) before making my way to Glossier. Per usual with a brand new store in Melrose, I had to wait in line for 20 minutes before I could go in. After finally entering the store, it was love at first sight. I went crazy, picking up products left, right, and center. There were so many different products I liked that it was actually hard to choose which ones to get, and let me tell you… I got a lot. I loved it so much, I drove through LA traffic 3 times that month just to feed my newfound obsession.

Skin First, Makeup Second. I’m coming back to this motto because it perfectly explains why I love Glossier so much.

Skin First. As I said before, I unfortunately was not blessed with perfect skin. Yes, I have acne, I break out when I’m stressed, my skin gets dry, it gets oily, and for some reason it’s always the worst when I have an event where I know I’m going to be taking pictures.

Makeup Second. I am a huge fan of makeup; the amount of eyeshadow pallets that I have is actually ridiculous. Despite my love for dressing up, I hate having to use makeup to cover up imperfections. But, as we all know, makeup companies love our imperfections! When I break out, I know I am going to have to use my foundation, my concealers and so on and so forth. Makeup companies thrive on my skin not being at its best! Glossier, on the other hand, understands that my skin comes first.

Glossier’s makeup line is simplistic, natural, and easy to apply. Their skin care products are not too harsh and have improved my skin quality significantly. Now that I’ve introduced you all to Glossier, I am going to give you some reviews on my favorite products of theirs!

TOP SHELF ALERT!

Lash Slick – 11/10

Lash Slick is Glossier’s mascara, and trust me, this mascara could save lives. No matter how much I put on, my eyelashes never clump together. 11/10 is not a typo ladies, it really goes above and beyond. I don’t even need to use an eyelash curler anymore, and I have little eyelashes.

Priming Moisturizer – 10/10

Moisturizer is an important part of my day to day routine. I have used brands such as Kiehl’s, Bobbi Brown, and moisturizers from skincare lines (Proactive and Rodan + Fields). They all worked, but in my opinion, the consistency was just too thick and left my skin feeling heavy and kind of gross. Glossier’s priming moisturizer is the perfect consistency and gets my skin feeling smooth every morning.

Boy Brow – 7/10

I have pretty full eyebrows, but I bought boy brow anyway just to give it a chance. One thing that I love is that it fills in my eyebrows, but it also keeps them in place! I gave it a 7/10 because sometimes it is difficult to apply; I tend to have a problem with taking the wand out of the container with too much gel on the brush and end up having to wipe it off. Other than that, it is a quality product.

Cloud Paint – 10/10

Just do it. Just buy one of the colors. You will thank me later. I recommend puff (a baby pink tint) for those of you who want a more subtle look.

Lidstar -8/10

Perfect for quick, on the go makeup. My current obsession is purple eyeshadow, so I highly recommend Lidstar in Lily. It is subtle but shimmery, and let’s be real, what more could a person want. I also have Lidstar in Slip, but it doesn’t work for me the way that lily does. I have noticed that sometimes when I put Slip on, it’s hard to tell I even have anything on my eyelids. I’ve heard nothing but great things about moon (a silver tone eyeshadow) so that it next on my list.

Solution – 10/10

This may be extremely over the top extra… BUT THIS LITERALLY SAVED MY SKIN! I feel quite strongly about Glossier’s Solution and my feelings are very positive. After I wash my face in the morning, I get a cotton round, add a few pumps of Solution and wipe it evenly around the entirety of my face. I noticed my skin drastically improved in a few days; after a month, a lot of my acne and acne scars were hardly noticeable! It is a HUGE improvement from what it was before!

Balm Dotcom – 10/10

I own every single one of their balm dotcoms…need I say more? I will tell you that my favorites are coconut Balm Dotcom and rose Balm Dotcom. Do what you will with this information!

Invisible Shield – 15/10

If there is one thing that my mom is always telling me, it’s to put on sunscreen before I leave the house. Now, I hate sunscreen. I think it is sticky and it makes my skin feel disgusting. The Invisible shield has been my holy grail, and now I don’t have to lie to my mom when I tell her that I’m putting on sunscreen everyday (you’re welcome mom). It is clear and feels smooth on my skin. I refuse to leave my house without it now.

Side Note: even if you don’t buy invisible shield, I would still recommend putting a sunscreen of your choice on your face everyday to protect your skin.

Stretch Concealer – 10/10

In the last year I have become a huge fan of minimal makeup. I use Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer and then Stretch Concealer on all of my imperfections and right under my eyes to cover bags. It super nice that I can just use my finger to apply the Stretch Concealer and that I don’t have to worry about cleaning or even buying a makeup brush. If you want more coverage, just add another layer!

Lip Gloss – 10/10

Glossier lip gloss is a must. Why wouldn’t you want glossy lips. Glossy things make the world go round.

Super Pure -9/10

I put on the Super Pure Serum every night and wake up feeling refreshed and less red than I was the night before. It isn’t a necessity; I would consider the serum more of a luxury, but I have nothing but good things to say about it. If you want to combat acne, Solution and Super Pure make a great duo. Should you only want to buy one though, I would recommend Solution.

Zit Stick

NEW PRODUCT ALERT! Glossier just came out with the Zit Stick this month so you already know the day it was released I ordered one online. According to different reviews, it helps to decrease redness in just three hours. So, I’ve only tried it once and it didn’t get rid of the pimple but it 100% got rid of any redness (which i think is the worst part of a pimple.) The instructions say to re-apply, so hopefully, it will work even better in the future.

As you can see, almost everything is a 10/10. Glossier, if you’re seeing this, sponsor me. For the rest of you, here is a link because I know you’re just dying to buy everything: https://www.glossier.com
