Beauty Bakerie: Why It’s Worth The Hype & Your Coins

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at LMU chapter.

What happens when you take makeup and bring it to the kitchen? You get Beauty Bakerie!

This has got to be the most eye-catching, mouth-watering, and overall most adorable brand concept design since Too Faced Cosmetics. Everything from the packaging to the naming just oozes creativity and makes it irresistible to *not* buy their products.

I mean just look at their packaging for their setting powders… they’re flours! Now you’ll really be baking under those eyes, am I right? (Only the makeup enthusiasts get that joke)

And look at the shade names of their concealers… My favorite ones are “Don’t give a frappe” and “You’re Brewtiful”

Oh, and don’t even get me started on their makeup sponges. They came out with a set of sponges called “blending eggs,” that came in legit egg cartons. Like stop it.

They have so many other products that are not only super adorable in design and packaging as well, but also high in quality, praised and purchased by the likes of prominent beauty YouTubers like Jackie Aina, Tati Westbrook, and Kathleen Lights. Even Beyonce loves it, so much that she wrote an article on the brand on her website!

One of their constant best-selling products that you may or may not have seen floating around on Instagram are their matte lip whips.

You can find tons of positive reviews online and on YouTube. Not only are these super longwearing and waterproof, they are also super comfortable to wear and will not leave your lips feeling like the Sahara desert. They also come in 16 beautiful shades that look good on both people with lighter skin tones and darker skin tones.

There are endless makeup brands out there to choose from, and whether it be drugstore makeup brands such as Wet n Wild and Elf, or luxurious higher-end makeup brands like Tom Ford and Dior, the only thing that really sets cosmetics brands apart from each other these days is their company values, and what they can contribute to the betterment of society beyond just beauty products. In my opinion, that’s exactly what this brand does, and I want to tell you all about it.

Beauty Bakerie is a black-owned cosmetic company started in 2011 by a single mother and breast cancer survivor who had the dream of inspiring others and spreading the message of empowerment and happiness to all. Living up to the brand’s motto “Be Better, Not Bitter,” Founder and CEO Cashmere Nicole’s views on life and business is to be sweet, and sweeten the lives of others, staying humble and grounded by remembering the hardships that she herself faced along the way of founding her company.

One of the things that I think sets this brand apart and has definitely helped propel the entire company towards popularity and success is its focus on diversity and representation of Women of Color. People are loving how their foundation range starts its lists with the darkest shade as No. 1. It’s something major beauty brands rarely do, if ever, and even though it’s something small, many people saw the importance of it. Beauty Bakerie founder interview with Teen Vogue that it’s meant to provide a refreshing experience for women of color.

“For black women in particular, we are reminded everywhere we go, on a daily basis, multiple times throughout the day, that we are second,” Nicole told Teen Vogue. “You go into a store, and you are bending down to nearly the ground to get your shade, or you go to a beauty store’s website, and when you’re looking for your shade you’re scrolling to the bottom of a list. And it could be any brand, but it’s going to be like, here are the light shades, and here are the dark all the way down here.” – Cashmere Nicole

There is so much yummy goodness in this brand that obviously cannot be encompassed in just one article. Hopefully, you will give Beauty Bakerie a try. If you want to try something new, cruelty free and cute, head over to Beauty Bakerie. Hop on their website right now and check em out, don’t sleep on this!
