5 Ways to Incorporate Eggnog into your Holiday Lifestyle

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at LMU chapter.

….to make the Holiday’s last a little longer!

Christmas themed food and drinks are such a fun way to feel like it is actually Christmas, especially if you live in a state that doesn’t typically show all four seasons. In this California weather, it might be hard to roast chestnuts on an open fire, but by incorporating eggnog, a seasonal special, into your month of December, you can make those holiday feels come to life!

Here are 5 ways to incorporate eggnog into your lifestyle (without just drinking it.. BORING!)

  1. Use it as milk in your fav milk + cereal combination. It tastes especially good with French toast crunch or honey nut Cheerios!

  2. Pour it over vanilla ice cream, affogato style. Our favorite ice cream picks would be Trader Joe’s French Vanilla ice cream.

  3. Use eggnog as coffee creamer with your favorite roast, whether it’s French, Italian, or Continental.

4. Pair it with your favorite cookie or wafer. Our favorites are classic Nilla wafers or seasonal gingerbread Oreos.

5. Make eggnog pancakes and add your favorite compote or fresh berry on top.

The recipe is:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tablespoon sugar

  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup eggnog

  • 2 tablespoons clarified butter

  • 1 egg, lightly beaten

  1. Heat an oiled skillet over medium heat.

  2. In a bowl, mix all the ingredients together but leave out the eggnog, butter, and egg. Once those are mixed, make a well in the center and pour in the eggnog, butter, and egg, and mix until all the ingredients are evenly moist.

  3. Pour batter onto the skillet and cook until they are lightly brown.

  4. Enjoy!
