The Random Thoughts of Omi_Gee – Opening Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Le Moyne chapter.

Baseball season is here! Finally, a sport I can actually enjoy watching!
I just finished watching the Yankees vs. Detroit game, which the Yankees won (I’m not surprised). Detroit did well though. If it wasn’t for Granderson’s 3-run homerun, who knows what would have happened.
The Yankees did a great job opening this 2011 season, winning 6-3. I was a bit hesitant when starting to watch the game, as the Yankees entered this season as the “underdogs”.
Yea, their bullpen is not the best this year, but I’m sure CC Sabathia will hold us down. It seems everyone is putting their bets on the Boston Red Sox winning the division this year, but I will continue to believe in my team! I wouldn’t doubt the Yankees though, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they sneak up and win the whole shebang in the end.
It’s too soon to speak, but at least they are already at a good start. I am just happy baseball season is back. So for now, I am just going to sit back and enjoy the season before making any assumptions. All I’ll say is to watch out for Granderson because he looks like he’s ready!
Lets go Yankees!

Omairys, a born and raised New York City gal of the Dominican descent, is a motivated Communications/Advertising major, with a minor in English. She does not know what she will do with her Communications degree after graduation but is ambitious enough to hope it will be something promising, as this field has been her passion for as long as she could remember. She is actively involved on campus, as she is President of El Progreso, a multicultural organization that strives to raise awareness of the Latino community. She loves to travel: she has traveled to Kenya to work at The Nyumbani Program and will be interning at our nation's capital her senior year! She is hard working, and excited to bring change to her campus---Le Moyne.
