How to Dress To Impress for Your Next Interview

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Le Moyne chapter.

Summer is right around the corner, meaning interviews for internships/jobs are also upon us. The way you present yourself at your interview is as important as what you have on your resume. We’ve been told to keep it professional, with a pant/skirt suit, but it is also important to stand out from the competition.  With these four looks, confidence, and your killer resume, you are bound to be a force to be reckoned with at your interviews.

Look 1:  Add a pop of color to any outfit with a well tailored blazer.  For a bolder look, add a bright-colored blazer.

Look 2: A classic shift dress, with an added belt, is a simple and fast outfit for the girl on the go.

Look 3: Are you ever torn between trousers or a skirts? Always remember that the fit is most important. Never wear a skirt that is above the knee or pants that could be mistaken for leggings.

Look 4: The classic white blouse can be paired with just about any bottom. Allow the white blouse to be the starting point when building your outfit. There are various takes of the classic white blouse. Mix it with a bright skirt, an embellished cardigan, or a chic blazer.

Interviews are a great opportunity to express your personality. So lets keep our accessories fun and fresh and allow our personality to shine through. Subtlety is key. Don’t over accessorize. You can never go wrong in a pair of classic black pumps, stud earrings, and a simple hairstyle. As for your makeup, unless your interviewing for the circus lets keep it looking au naturale! Remember less is more.

PS. “ Be yourself. Above all, let who you are, what you are, what you believe, shine through every sentence you write, every piece you finish.”
