Thanksgiving is not usually people’s favorite holiday as it is always outshined by the gift-giving holidays like Christmas, Hanukkah, etc. However, Thanksgiving is no doubt the best holiday, and it deserves more credit.

Here are some reasons why Thanksgiving is the best holiday.

  1. It is the perfect transition between fall and winter.

Thanksgiving normally falls in the last week of November and kicks off the holiday shopping season. The day is very relaxed allowing people to rest up before Black Friday shopping the next day. Some people also choose to put up their holiday decorations right after Thanksgiving as well.

  1. The food is always great.

No matter what your family is like, everyone always tries their absolute best on their Thanksgiving food. The staples (i.e. turkey, mashed potatoes, rolls) make for great comfort food. If you celebrate with extended family, it is really nice to have everyone’s cooking come together for one big meal.

  1. You do not have to dress up if you do not want to.

Because Thanksgiving normally happens in the living room and dining room, most people dress comfortably to chill out all day. Sweatshirts and leggings with fuzzy socks are perfectly acceptable and welcome.

  1. The weather is chilly but not too cold.

The temperatures definitely drop in the last week of November, but there is no snow on the ground (usually). However, if you live in New England, you know that that is a wildcard for sure. If you get lucky and have no snow on Thanksgiving, it makes for safe travels for you and your family.

  1. It is refreshing to reflect on everything that you are thankful for.

As corny as it sounds, Thanksgiving is the annual reminder that there is so much to be thankful for. Life gets super busy, and it is really easy to forget that. It is really nice to show thanks to family and friends.
