I love Thanksgiving. I mean, what’s better than a holiday spent with family, eating a delicious meal, and enjoying each other’s company? Even though I’m a picky eater, there are still some Thanksgiving essentials that grace my plate every year: turkey (obviously), bread rolls, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and my favorite – cranberry sauce. I’m not talking about cranberry sauce made from scratch. No, I’m talking about the wonderfully cylindrical cranberry sauce from a can. I could eat it straight from the can if I so desired because I love it that much. It’s the best part of the meal in my opinion, and here are some reasons to further my point.

  1. It tastes delicious:

This one goes without saying, but I still had to include it as one of my reasons. Cranberry sauce has a flavor that perfectly combines tartness and sweetness; it’s simply delicious. Its fruitful flavor breaks up the heaviness and richness of other Thanksgiving dishes like stuffing or various casserole dishes. I always go back for seconds and sometimes, even thirds.

  1. It looks beautiful on a Thanksgiving plate:

This one might be more of an aesthetic-based reason, but cranberry just looks so pleasing and appetizing on my plate. I love the deep magenta color because I think it just represents fall so well. Since other Thanksgiving foods tend to be varying shades of brown, I think having cranberry sauce on my Thanksgiving dinner plate adds a delightful splash of color and variety.

  1. It reminds me of spending time with my family:

And finally, this last reason makes me a little sentimental. My entire family loves cranberry sauce; so much that we bought a multi-pack that will probably last us multiple Thanksgiving feasts. Thinking about our shared love for this dish reminded me of how grateful and happy I am that we spend Thanksgiving together every year; talking and laughing while eating loads of cranberry sauce and other incredible Thanksgiving dishes.
