When it comes down to Christmas decor there are millions of ways people choose to decorate their homes. Christmas decorations can be something to light up the season (literally) and can bring the true vibes of the holidays to life. However, in some cases, these themes can be a little overbearing or can really only be done right in moderation.

  1. Rustic

When I think of rustic Christmas decor I see a lot of wooden ornaments, red and black plaid, as well as lots of different animals found in the wild on objects. The rustic vibe when done right is refreshing compared to some styles of decor that leave you feeling all over the place. It brings the feeling of cozy and home to the table and really allows for a family’s personality to come through.

2. Traditional

We all know the saying “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it” and this truly is how I feel about traditional themes. When not all over the place it makes everything truly feel like Christmas. Red, green, and touches of wood can truly bring the season to the next level. The only reason it’s second is that it does not give enough room to make the personality come through.

3. Neutral Modern / Minimalistic

Think the Kardashian/Jenner family Christmas themes, though completely over the top and taken to the extreme the theme truly is stunning. It can be so classy and allow everything to look put together. However, it falls third because it is overdone and done by too many celebrities that which takes the awe away.

4. Disney Christmas / Movie themes

This is something I struggled to place. As much as I love Disney and think it is the cutest thing in the world, it is insanely easy for this theme to become a mess. When you have characters all over the place and nothing really works together it ruins the feeling of the decor. Taking away from the joy and instead leaving the eyebrow-raised look from people passing by. The decorations must fit together in order for this theme to not become too much which is why it is stuck in fourth.

5. White Christmas / White and Gold/Silver

Lastly, the theme is very boring and doesn’t give me a feeling of joy. That being said I have seen it very pretty, but I love the warm and cozy vibe during the holidays. My least favorite thing is being worried about things beginning to look grimy. The white Christmas vibe is the hardest to upkeep and overall the least pleasing to look at.         Overall the holiday gives each person their own decorative choice to use any theme as put together or not to display their spirit of the holiday. There are no wrong decisions about how to decorate a home, but there are many ways to make it quickly turn into too much. Whatever brings your family the most joy is the most important as family is one of the most important components of this time of year!
