Over a year ago, I began crocheting. I had just started college and wasn’t doing much in my free time, so I wanted a new hobby. I already knew how to knit and crocheting was always on my bucket list. Well… I immediately fell in love with it. Crocheting consumed all of my time not spent with new friends or on homework. I was determined to get better at it and to make a bunch of cool projects. Now, I’m going to share some of my favorite projects I’ve crocheted in the last year *and* the patterns I used.
Winter had been approaching quickly last year and I was desperate for some nice gloves. Instead of spending a lot of money on some, I decided to try and crochet them. While I was still an early beginner at crocheting, I believe I did a pretty decent job on the gloves. Of course, the pattern is for beginners which helped a lot, but I’m still very proud of them.
One of the main reasons I began crocheting was the adorable stuffed animals people were crocheting. I just knew I had to crochet some as well! The first amigurumi I ever tackled was this cute stuffed octopus. I will admit, it did not exactly end up looking like the picture. But, I still very much love it and display it for everyone to see (and judge…).
I crocheted this early this school year, around September, and it was a super fun crochet pattern. I had never tackled open square spaces before so it was definitely a challenge. I didn’t use the correct type of yarn nor the right weight, so my bag looks and hangs differently, but I’m definitely going to attempt it again with the right yarn. It is so cute and goes with any outfit.
Oddly enough, I never crocheted a granny square until this month. For some reason, I just skipped that phase of crocheting. However, I am now obsessed with them. I’m planning on attempting a granny square bag very soon and I’m super excited. Granny squares are such a simple but super universal crochet project that can be used for anything.
