Must watch Netflix holiday movies and tv series

It’s that time of the year to start thinking about all the cliche Christmas and holiday content that Netflix has to offer. I love the classics like How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Home Alone, but Netflix has some holiday movies that make me feel like a Hallmark character. I grew up watching the Hallmark Channel with my grandmother especially during the holiday season, so these movies and shows really take me back to those days. I watched the following three movies and shows last Christmas, and they were memorable enough to be mentioned this year. I will admit that I don’t think these movies or shows are worthy of any awards, but there’s a special part of each of them that just warms my heart a little. Something about the charm that holiday movies and shows brings that allows for them to be incredibly corny.

The first Netflix movie I recommend to everyone is The Christmas Chronicles. This movie reminds me of childhood. The story is about two kids that try to catch Santa, but instead end up needing to help him after causing his sleigh to crash. This film feels like a modern version of The Santa Clause with Tim Allen. I loved that film growing up, so when I came across The Christmas Chronicles last year I felt a wave of nostalgia.

The next movie is the hallmark of all Hallmarks, The Princess Switch. There’s a part of every little girl that wishes she could have a romance like in this movie. This film makes me feel like I am living out that dream. It stars Vanessa Hudges, so you just know that it’s gonna be good and wholesome.

The last recommendation I have is actually a television series on Netflix. Dash & Lily is a cute christmas love story that goes back and forth in perspective as the two teenagers share a connection through a plain red journal. These characters are quirky and the audience watches them make mistakes and bad decisions, but then come together to finally meet in person. It’s a cute show that is all about the lead up to Christmas which is perfect for getting into the holiday spirit.

Try these flicks out this holiday season!
