If you don’t know what Wordle is by now, you’ve definitely been living under a rock. For the Wordle-obsessed among us (myself included), there are tons of games popping up each and every day that mimic the simple Wordle layout, each with fun new twists. I’ve compiled a list of my favorites that I play daily, so keep reading if you’ve been in search of your next online obsession.

Globle

As the name Globle suggests, you’re given a picture of the globe and tasked with finding the mystery country. Each guess you type in gets colored in on the map, and the darker red the country is, the closer your guess was to it! You have unlimited guesses, so you can just keep guessing until you get it. I suck at geography, but this is a fun game and has honestly taught me about some countries that I didn’t even know existed. I do have to admit though, sometimes this can be tricky and you may or may not have to cheat using Google Maps

Worldle

While Worldle certainly looks like Wordle and sounds like it’d be similar to Globle, it’s actually quite different. This time, you only have 6 guesses to guess the mystery country based on it’s silhouette. After each guess, you’re given a distance in kilometers of how close the country you guessed is to the answer country as well as a directional arrow to (literally) help point you in the right direction and a percentage out of 100. Again, sometimes some slight cheating is necessary.

Nerdle

I know that there’s a ton of people out there who have a violent hatred for math, but Nerdle truly makes math fun. Again, you’re given 6 guesses to figure out an equation. You can use any numbers from 0 to 9 and addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Each equation contains 8 terms, so either numbers or operations. It’s truly not as hard as it sounds when you get the hang of it!

Lewdle

The inappropriate and definitely 18+ version of the classic Wordle is Lewdle. This one is sure to get you laughing and thinking outside of the box, because it literally won’t accept words that aren’t in its dicktionary (yes, spelled like that). You have 6 guesses to guess the 5 or 6-letter word (it changes, but is typically a 5-letter word) and when you’ve used all of your guesses, Lewdle provides a helpful definition of the word in case it’s a bit… out there. Maybe don’t play this one at work though.

Dordle

Wordle has you guessing one word, but Dordle ups that and has you guessing 2 different 5-letter words… at the same time. Whatever word you type in as your guess gets counted for both words, and this can either be super helpful or very irritating. You have 7 guesses in this version, and trust me, you usually need most of them. Definitely a fun daily challenge if the one word on Wordle isn’t enough for you!

Quordle

Another step up, Quordle is FOUR different 5-letter words at once. You get 9 guesses in this challenge, but in all honesty, I still typically only correctly guess 3 of the 4 words. It’s hard, but honestly so addicting because each day I manage to convince myself that today will be the day that I guess all 4 words.

Octordle

Okay, so you may be seeing a trend right now; Dordle is 2 words at once, Quordle is 4 words at once, and yes, you guessed it, Octordle has you guessing 8 different 5-letter words at once. Luckily, you get 13 guesses for this game. The first time I tried this one I was completely overwhelmed, but I’m happy to say that today I guessed all 8 words before running out of guesses. And yes, it WAS a huge ego boost.

Sedecordle

There can’t possibly be a Wordle lookalike game that has you guessing more than 8 words at once, right? Wrong. Sedecordle makes you guess 16 different 5-letter words at once. Sounds impossible? It’s actually not too bad. Once you’ve used a lot of the letters, it becomes so much easier to just rearrange them for the different words. This is one of my favorite Wordle-esque games because of the slight chaotic energy it gives off.

I hope you guys have fun trying out these awesome Wordle alternatives! I’m addicted to each of them, and my roommate and I have daily competitions. We text each other our results for each game, so yes, you could say that these games are fun and only *mildly* addictive. Let me know in the comments below if you’ve found any other super-addicting Wordle knock-offs.
