Now do not get us wrong, wearing a mask is super important, however, it comes with that dreaded maskne. Here are our best tips on how to treat unwanted acne on the face.

  1. Wash Your Mask: If the masks are reusable cloth ones, make sure to wash them in the laundry or by hand wash after every use.

  2. Wear a New Mask Everyday: Make sure to switch out masks on the daily. Avoid using the same mask over and over again because it could transfer germs from day today.

  3. Stay Hydrated: Drinking lots of water is not only great for skin but also hair and nails! Staying hydrated will skin clear up, keep nails healthy, and help hair growth.

  4. Use a Charcoal Face Wash: Charcoal is great for treating acne, however, it can dry skin out. We recommend using it every other day or using an oil free face cream after. Emalee’s personal favorite charcoal face wash is the Biore Charcoal Acne Clearing Facial Cleanser

  5. Use a Spot Treatment Cream: Another great product for stubborn acne is spot treatment cream! Most are recommended to use one to three times a day, however, if dry skin occurs it can be used once a day or once every other day. Emalee’s current favorite is Clean and Clear Spot Treatment.

  6. Use a Toner: Using a toner nightly or every other night is great for treating stubborn spots as well. Witch Hazel is also a great product that also helps in a similar way. Emalee’s current favorite toner is Clean and Clear Essentials Toner. It is relatively inexpensive and a great dub for a Clinique toner.

  7. Use Oil Blotting Sheets: Last, but not least we recommend using oil blotting sheets during those long shifts. Let’s be real, after an eight-hour shift or longer, it can get sweaty under the mask. During lunch break try using an oil blotting sheet! This is another reason why it is important to regularly switch out masks and wash them. Emalee’s all-time favorite oil blotting sheets are Clean and Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets. Want in on a little secret? If someone wants to save a couple of dollars, the Target brand “up and up,” ones are just as effective and they come in a seventy pack versus fifty. Up and Up Oil Blotting Sheets Can Be Found Here.

It seems like we are going to be wearing masks for some time, so make sure to incorporate these tips in skincare routines!
